THE SEA CLIFF BEACH CAFE - A SUMMER FAVORITE RETURNS

Picture
The Sea Cliff Beach Cafe is back.  After a long winter recess and the restless anticipation of a Sea Cliff summer one feels each spring - the Beach Cafe, a stop in the daily routine for many residents during our warmest months, is now once again open every day through Labor Day.  Hardly your ordinary beach concession stand, with a wide variety of healthy and delicious fare for many tastes and moods at very reasonable prices and a spectacular view of Hempstead Harbor, as well as attentive and friendly service, the Beach Cafe at the Sea Cliff Village Beach pavilion is no stand at all, but rather a complete restaurant and the perfect place to go this July and August for a casual meal, to meet friends for a cup of coffee and a snack, or just to laze while sipping a smoothie  gazing at the shore as the laid back summer activity unfolds.  Diners at the Cafe do not need to be beach members or to pay beach admission for entry. BRING YOUR CHILD TO A VILLAGE BOARD MEETING ON JULY 13

PictureYoung residents wait to address board at last year's meeting
In an effort to promote civic education by offering young people an opportunity to experience democracy first hand, the Sea Cliff Village Board is encouraging parents to bring their children to the July13 Village Board meeting.  Initiated by Trustee Ed Lieberman last year, the "bring your child to a village board meeting night," has now become an annual event.    Children, escorted by a parent, are welcomed and encouraged to ask questions during the public comment portion of the meeting.  The meeting will begin at 7 pm.

REVELING IN REVOLUTION

July 5, 2015 -- As had been done at village greens, town squares and in public halls in July 1776, residents of Sea Cliff and surrounding communities reveled in revolution this past Saturday morning gathering  at the John Burns Village Green for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.  Sponsored by the Sea Cliff Civic Association, and presided over by its President Ann DiPietro, the celebration of the nation's 239th birthday was truly a community affair with villagers of all ages from elementary school through middle age  - some sporting tricornes, at least one wearing what appeared to be a powdered wig, and almost all in red white or blue - getting into the act. SEA CLIFF'S GOOD OF THE VILLAGE ASSOCIATION TO BRING BACK "GOLFING THROUGH THE VILLAGE" EVENT ON SEPTEMBER 19

Picture
Yes, that zany, preposterous golf event through the front and back lawns, hidden gardens, parks and passageways of the 132 year old Victorian village is back. The Association will use this delightfully wacky contest as their primary fundraiser for 2015.  Each participant will get true-flight practice balls, a map, a scorecard and will be assigned a hole to start. There are 24 par three holes for a par score of 72. A foursome is $100 or $25 per player. Anyone can walk the course without golfing for $10. Check-in time is 8:30am and tee-off will be 9:15am. Pre-registration is available at the Daniel Gale Agency on Sea Cliff Avenue in Sea Cliff. The Association is seeking sponsors for this fun event. You or your business can sponsor a hole for $100. Other sponsorship forms are available. For information contact Sheila Wenger at sheilawenger@danielgale.com.
