STILL LIFE: 1970s PHOTOREALISM AT NASSAU COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART IN ROSLYN HARBOR

The works in this memorial retrospective exhibition are examples of a much broader body of Hershenhart’s life’s work. She had an affinity with the European artists, particularly the French painters, Henri Matisse, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Marie Laurencin to name a few.

Assemblyman Edward Ra, pictured to the left, who represents most of Glen Head and Old Brookville in the state legislature, along with Assemblyman Michael Montesano, sponsored a Blood Drive at the Gold Coast Public Library on Monday evening.  Dozens of area residents turned out to donate pints.

July 19, 2014 -- Last week, Head First, penciled in at the last minute, performed 60's and 70's folk rock at Sunset Serenade on Thursday night, and the Cuban Cigars, with special guest Susan Giordano performed a mix of Bossanova and American and Latin Jazz at the Sea Cliff Beach Committee's Friday Night concert at the beach's permanent performance pavilion.  This week, the Rusty String Band will be at Memorial Park on Thursday, at 7 pm, and Rick Reyes will be performing at Sea Cliff Beach on Friday from 7 to 10 pm.  Click here for larger images and for the Sunset Serenade and Sea Cliff Beach Summer Sounds schedule.  

UNITED STATES NAVY BAND NORTHEAST POPS ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM AT MORGAN PARK SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL, JULY 27

On Sunday, July 27, the United States Navy Band Northeast will perform at Morgan Park Summer Music Festival. The concert, which is free to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Morgan Park.
The United States Navy Band Northeast’s Pops Ensemble is a full 45-member concert band comprised of professional Navy musicians from across the county.

GHGWBA AND FNBLI TO SPONSOR GLEN HEAD FARMER'S MARKET THIS FALL

The Glen Head Business Association along with the First National Bank of Long Island will sponsor a Farmer's Market and Local Business Showcase that will take place on Sunday September 21, 2014 from 10 am to 3 pm in the bank parking lot at the corner of Roosevelt Street and Glen Head Road in the center of Glen Head. Rottkamp's Farm of Old Brookville will be selling produce, and Business Association members will be offering their wares for sale at booths.  This is the first year that the event is being held, and one that the GHGWBA is looking forward to sponsoring annually.  The rain date is the following Sunday.
