CAROL VOGT AWARDED WHITE CAP HONOR FOR SELFLESS SERVICE TO SEA CLIFF

June 12, 2015 -- At a ceremony attended by dozens of Sea Cliff residents this past Tuesday night, the Sea Cliff Civic Association recognized former Village Trustee Carol Vogt as this year's recipient of the organization's White Cap Award. The prestigious honor is bestowed each year upon individuals, groups or organizations that have demonstrated repeated outstanding volunteer service to the Sea Cliff community. READ MORE

NORTH SHORE RELAY FOR LIFE SEEKS TO "FINISH THE FIGHT"

June 12, 2015 -- After several months of preparation, Relay for life of North Shore 2015 held its culminating event at the high school field last Saturday evening and into Sunday morning, June 6th and 7th. Cancer survivors, caregivers and several hundred supporters turned out to memorialize loved ones who lost their lives to cancer, to honor those who have survived their battle with the disease, and to raise funds to "finish the fight."  READ MORE

SPRINGFEST CELEBRATES SEA CLIFF

June 15, 2015 --  This past Sunday, Sea Cliff held its third annual Springfest, a celebration of the village's vibrant community culture - in particular its volunteer groups, businesses, artists and musicians. At booths lining the avenue, local artisans and proprietors sold their wares and community organizations were given the opportunity to publicize their services and recruit new members.  READ MORE

2015 MORGAN PARK SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL BEGINS JULY 5

The Morgan Park Summer Music festival will kick off its 56th Season of Sunday concerts with a performance of "Americana" by the North Shore Pops Concert Band on July 5. GOLD COAST PUBLIC LIBRARY ELECTION SET FOR SEPTEMBER 9, 2015

On September 9, 2015, residents of the Gold Coast Public Library District (GCPLD) located in Glen Head, NY, who are eligible to vote in a general election will vote for as many as three candidates to fill three open seats on the Board of Trustees and to establish the Library budget for 2016. There are (3) three year seats. Balloting will take place at the Gold Coast Public Library, 50 Railroad Avenue, Glen Head, between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. READ MORE

June 14, 2015 -- After failing to secure Village approval to install a storage shed on the eastern edge of Village Hall property, it appears almost certain that the Friends of Sea Cliff Library will be pulling the plug on Offbeat Artifacts, the Saturday tag sales held on the Village Green that have raised more than $30,000 for the library.  At the Monday, June 8 Village Board Meeting, Village Attorney Brian Stolar stated that as a result of a covenant between the Village of Sea Cliff and New York State tied to a grant for the restoration of Village Hall, the village legally could not place a shed on Village Hall Property to store items for sale at the Off-Beat Artifacts fundraisers.  READ MORE


SEA CLIFF VILLAGE HALL VANDALIZED OVER WEEKEND

June 16, 2015 -- Early Monday afternoon, a Sea Cliff Village employee discovered graffiti in the second floor conference room of Village Hall indicating a possible burglary having taken place this past weekend.  Scrawled across most of the length of the room’s western wall, with a magic marker, was the statement “Let us chill in parks so we don’t have to chill here!!! # give respect where respect is due,” and a heart symbol with the words “sorry janitor.”  READ MORE

June 14, 2015 -- In observation of Bloomsday, the anniversary of the day the literary masterpiece  Ulysses takes place, Sea Cliff James Joyce enthusiasts Dan and Ann DiPietro offered a tour of the village, entitled "Sirens Over Sea Cliff," this past Saturday morning, that mirrored parts of Joyce’s hero Leopold Bloom’s passage through Dublin on June 16, 1904. GREEN HOUSE INHABITANTS HOST SEA CLIFF STUDENTS

June 15, 2015 -- Sea Cliff residents Karen Lannig and Peter Vollmer welcomed the entire Sea Cliff third grade  into their Hawthorne Road home this last Monday afternoon, and an additional two dozen more students and their parents later in the day,  to offer a lesson in the environmental and financial rewards to green living.  The field trip was organized by the Sea Cliff Elementary School Joint Parent/Teacher Green Committee as a part of the third grade global issues curriculum of which environmentalism is a key component.   The Vollmers outfitted their house with 42 solar panels a decade ago, and have used the energy generated not only to provide electricity to their home, but also to run their car and and power their yard tools. A PERFECT SATURDAY FOR A PICNIC

June 14, 2015 --The weather picnic perfect, more than sixty seniors from Sea Cliff, Glen Head and Glenwood Landing turned out for the Sea Cliff Senior Action Committee's Annual Picnic that was held this past Saturday afternoon at the Sea Cliff Methodist church. The event was a team effort with the Senior Action Committee organizing the picnic, setting up, and serving food, and North Shore Kiwanis members working the grills, while keyboardist John LaRosa, accompanied by John Canning crooning, provided the musical entertainment.   Sea Cliff DPW employees Gary and John G. lended a hand setting up the picnic tables on the Methodist Church lawn.  READ MORE

The Sea Cliff Farmer’s Market is back for the 2015 season at its new home at St. Luke’s Church! (On the corner of Glen Ave and Roslyn Ave.)  Opening day will be June 27th, and the market will contine each Saturday (except July 4) through the end of October, from  9 AM to 1 PM.  The Sea Cliff Farmers Market offers ALL organic produce from some very local farms - Old Westbury, Brookville and Oyster Bay! One of our famers is a Sea Cliff resident!

SEA CLIFF CIVIC ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES SUNSET SERENADE 2015 LINEUP
