NORTH SHORE SCHOOLS BUDGET VOTE AND BOARD OF EDUCATION TRUSTEES ELECTION ON TUESDAY MAY 20On Tuesday May 20, residents of the North Shore School District will have the opportunity to vote on a $95,850,328.85 spending plan for the 2014-15 school yer, representing a 1.984% increase over the current year's budget, and a tax levy of $87,883,212 a 1.532% rise over this year, and nearly $320,000 below the state imposed tax levy limit. In addition three candidates will be on the ballot for two open seats on the Board of Education. They are Joanna Commander of Glen Head, Lara Gonzalez of Sea Cliff, and Robert Mazzella of Glen Head. Current trustees Amy Beyer, who has been on the board since 2002, and Tom Knierim, who is completing his first three year term, have chosen not to seek re-election. The vote will take place from 7 am to 10 pm at the North Shore High School Gymnasium. See below for information on the candidates and the budget, as well as letters from supporters.
