June 6, 2015 -- At this past Monday’s Sea Cliff Village Board Conference, as the four trustees and Mayor Bruce Kennedy considered requests by organizations to use parks, roadways, the beach, and other village venues for a variety of events, they once again discussed the need for developing a policy that would establish clear rules and guidelines for permitting use of village property and facilities by organizations, businesses and other entities. FIRM SELECTED FOR HEMPSTEAD  HARBOR SEWER SYSTEMS STUDY

June 4, 2015 – A sewer system for the North Shore communities of Glen Head, Glenwood Landing and Sea Cliff moved one step towards becoming a reality this past Monday, when the Nassau County legislature appointed the consulting firm Dvirka and Barilucci to conduct a feasiblity and design study for such a system to serve communities along the eastern shore of Hempstead Harbor.  The funding for the study was secured largely through the efforts of County Legislator Delia Deriggi-Whitton (LD 11), whose district encircles Hempstead Harbor from Glen Cove to Port Washington.   READ MORE

Thank you Sea Cliff for making the Friends of the Sea Cliff Library “Giant Gently Used Book Sales,” at “Garage Day Sale” on Saturday, June 6, 2015 a great success.    The book sale is a major fundraiser and community event where people come to share their love of the library, reading, and books and spend time with their friends.  Many hundreds of books, DVDs and CDs are donated and sold. NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY CHORUS SONDHEIM TRIBUTE ON JUNE 13

The North Shore Community Chorus (NSCC), under the direction of Stephen Goldstein, will present a musical tribute to legendary Broadway composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim.
The Community Chorus will perform music from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, Merrily We Roll Along  and Sweeney Todd. Ensemble singers, "Musica Schmoozica," under the direction of Carol Goglia, will perform highlights from West Side Story.  READ MORE


GOLD COAST PUBLIC LIBRARY ELECTION SET FOR SEPTEMBER 9, 2015

On September 9, 2015, residents of the Gold Coast Public Library District (GCPLD) located in Glen Head, NY, who are eligible to vote in a general election will vote for as many as three candidates to fill three open seats on the Board of Trustees and to establish the Library budget for 2016. There are (3) three year seats. Balloting will take place at the Gold Coast Public Library, 50 Railroad Avenue, Glen Head, between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. READ MORE

CELEBRATING STENSON LIBRARY'S CENTURY OF SERVICE TO SEA CLIFF

NORTH SHORE WOMEN'S TRACK WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT COUNTY TITLE

June 4 -- For the sixth consecutive year, the North Shore Women's Track and Field Team won the Nassau County Class A Championship. Competing against 18 other schools, the Vikings were dominant, finishing 37 points ahead of the second place finisher.  "It was a tremendous performance, from a wonderful group," said track coach Neal Levy.  READ MORE

The Sea Cliff Farmer’s Market is back for the 2015 season at its new home at St. Luke’s Church! (On the corner of Glen Ave and Roslyn Ave.)  Opening day will be June 27th, and the market will contine each Saturday (except July 4) through the end of October, from  9 AM to 1 PM.  The Sea Cliff Farmers Market offers ALL organic produce from some very local farms - Old Westbury, Brookville and Oyster Bay! One of our famers is a Sea Cliff resident!

SEA CLIFF SENIOR PICNIC ON JUNE 13

The Sea Cliff Senior Action Committee will hold its rain or shine annual Senior Picnic at 12 Noon on Saturday, June 13, at the Sea Cliff Methodist Church located at Downing and Carpenter Avenues. All seniors of the North Shore School District are invited. Hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit and salads, along with soft drinks will be served. The inimitable John Canning will MC the event along with music and sing-a-long songs by keyboardist, John LaRosa. The picnic is free and no tickets are required. The Morgan Park Summer Music festival will kick off its 56th Season of Sunday concerts with a performance of "Americana" by the North Shore Pops Concert Band on July 5. The works of Sea Cliff artists Kay Vickers and Lilli Scott will be exhibited at the Sea Cliff Library this May and June.  Works on display include a series of landscapes by Ms. Vickers entitled "Loving Landscapes; and eight pastels by Ms. Scott, called "Buon Cibo," or "Good Food."
