VIKINGS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOOKS TO CAPTURE LONG ISLAND TITLE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

The North Shore Varsity Women's Basketball team will battle Harborfields for the Class A Long Island Championship trophy on Friday evening at 5 pm.  The game will be a re-match of last year's contest when the Vikings fell just a few points short.  Two weeks ago, North Shore defeated Wantagh to take the Nassau County Title.  (CLICK HERE FOR MARCH 3 ARTICLE)

March 10, 2015 -- At a forum attended by more than 1200 people this past Monday evening at LIU CW Post's Tilles Center in Brookville, schools advocate, NYU Education Professor and author Diane Ravitch, invoking the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr., declared public education to be the most important civil rights issue of our time, and encouraged parents and teachers to employ similar tactics as those used by Civil Rights activists half a century ago to reverse the reforms that have radically changed public schooling in this and other states across the country over the past few years.  READ MORE

March 11, 2015 -- The Glen Cove High School Key Club, with support from the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Shelter Rock, will be sponsoring a Benefit Concert for the North Shore INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) at Glen Cove High School on Friday March 20.The benefit, entitled "Serve One Another," will feature the internationally recognized Glen Cove High School Select Chorale, directed by High School Music Director Ed Norris, and will also include appearances by guest musicians tenor Mark Bleeke, guitarist Jefferey Bleeke, and Eric Milnes, the Director of Music and Organist at St. John's of Lattingtown Episcopal Church.    READ MORE


EASTER FOOD DRIVE  COCKTAIL PARTY SUPPORTS THOSE IN NEED

March 10, 2014 -- More than 100 guests filled the American Legion Hall in Glen Head this past Friday evening for an Easter Food Drive Cocktail Party.  The event is a "pot luck" affair with each party goer offering a dish for all to share, and monetary and food donations for those in need.  Glen Head resident Ken Kraft has organized the fundraiser for about a decade now, and it has become an annual community effort with local groups and residents lending a huge hand. BAGGATAWAY GETS UNDER WAY WITH NORTH SHORE LACROSSE CLUB'S ANNUAL PASTA DINNER

More than 300 people attended the North Shore Lacrosse Club's annual Pasta Dinner this past Tuesday evening at the North Shore Middle School.  The annual event, held for the past decade, allows players at all levels - from those newly introduced to the game through the early grade club teams to those competing at the High School Varsity level - to get together and celebrate the start of the season. MAKING SENSE OF THE CIVIL WAR AT CEDARMERE THIS SPRING

The Friends of Cedarmere will partner with the New York Council for the Humanities this spring to host a free public Reading and Discussion Program on the theme Making Sense of the Civil War.  It’s especially fitting that this Program comes to Cedarmere, the historic home of William Cullen Bryant, a major voice in journalism throughout the Civil War period, and an important advising supporter of Lincoln. The Council Program will altogether comprise six sessions—from 7 to 8:30 pm on consecutive Monday evenings—running March 23 through May 4, including a one-week ‘mid-term’ break.  READ MORE

BOY SCOUT TROOP 43 ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE

Boy Scout Troop 43 will be handing out flyers through out Sea Cliff and Glen Head Saturday March 7th.

The boys will go back to those houses on March 14th to pick up food.
People can also drop off at Saint Boniface Food Pantry (corner of Glen Avenue and Carpenter Ave. 9-12 on March 14th) Drop off boxes will also be at NS Farms and Walbaums on March 14th.
Food will be disturbed to Sea Cliff Mutual Concerns, The Inn in Glen Cove and St. Boniface Food Pantry
Help us reach our goal of 3000 lbs!!
