SEA CLIFF BOY SCOUT TROOP 43 MEMBERS RECOGNIZED AT COURT OF HONOR

On February 23, 2015 Boy Scout Troop 43 of Sea Cliff Held its Court of Honor. Special recognition was given to Assistant Scout Master, Mr. Alex Chebuske for successful completion of his BSA Woodbadge Training.  This is the highest level of BSA Scout Leader training available.  

Troop 43 received the Journey to Excellence in 2014 award. All troop members and leaders who were members of Troop 43 received the Gold Unit Award.

Scouts received Merit badges and others were recognized for Rank Advancements.

Congratulation to all the members of Troop 43!

Saturday March 14,2015

Boy Scout Troop 43 will be handing out flyers through out Sea Cliff and Glen Head Saturday March 7th.

The boys will go back to those houses on March 14th to pick up food.
People can also drop off at Saint Boniface Food Pantry (corner of Glen Avenue and Carpenter Ave. 9-12 on March 14th) Drop off boxes will also be at NS Farms and Walbaums on March 14th.
Food will be disturbed to Sea Cliff Mutual Concerns, The Inn in Glen Cove and St. Boniface Food Pantry
Help us reach our goal of 3000 lbs!!

VIKINGS CAPTURE SECOND STRAIGHT TITLE WITH THRILLING 50-46 WIN OVER WANTAGH

This past Saturday, the North Shore Women's Basketball team defeated Wantagh in the Nassau County Class A Finals held at LIU-Post to gain their astonishing third county title in the last four years. The #1 seeded Vikings (18-2) jumped out to an early lead and consistently held off late surges by the #3 seeded Warriors (18-3) in order to secure the victory. READ MORE


SC VILLAGE BOARD VOTES TO TRANSITION CLIFF WAY AND THE BOULEVARD TO ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ON APRIL 1

PUB CRAWLING FOR SEA CLIFF BEACH

This past Friday night, the Sea Cliff Beach Committee held its eighth annual Pub Crawl to raise funds for the upkeep and improvement of Sea Cliff Beach.  After dropping by the Village Wine Merchant to make a donation, pick up a mug, and of course, taste wine, Crawlers, braving the 20 degree temperatures, ventured off to Gallaghers, the Metropolitan Bistro, Still Partners,the Oak Room Tavern and Musu for drinks, and to il Villagio for a slice of pizza.   READ MORE


SEA CLIFF LANDMARKS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS "THE CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF PAINTINGS" ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 11

The second of the 2015 Sea Cliff Landmarks Association lecture series will be held on March 11 at 8:00 pm at the Sea Cliff Yacht Club and will feature Sea Cliff resident: Jonathan Sherman who will discuss the:  “The Conservation and Restoration of Paintings"

Mr. Sherman will discuss why paintings deteriorate and the various methods used to restore paintings. Easel paintings as well as murals will be covered. READ MORE

The Sea Cliff Civic Association is sponsoring a Meet the Candidates forum at Village Hall on Thursday, March 12 at 8 pm.  Mayor Bruce Kennedy and Trustee Edward Lieberman are seeking re-election to their offices, and Dina Epstein, who is currently chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals, is running for the first time.  Although the three are running unopposed, the forum offers Sea Cliff residents the opportunity to hear the candidates' respective governing philosophies and their answers to questions from constituents. Everyone is invited to attend.


MAKING SENSE OF THE CIVIL WAR AT CEDARMERE THIS SPRING

The Friends of Cedarmere will partner with the New York Council for the Humanities this spring to host a free public Reading and Discussion Program on the theme Making Sense of the Civil War.  It’s especially fitting that this Program comes to Cedarmere, the historic home of William Cullen Bryant, a major voice in journalism throughout the Civil War period, and an important advising supporter of Lincoln. The Council Program will altogether comprise six sessions—from 7 to 8:30 pm on consecutive Monday evenings—running March 23 through May 4, including a one-week ‘mid-term’ break.  READ MORE
