MAN PROUD OF THE PLACE IN WHICH HE LIVES SEEKS TO REVITALIZE SEA CLIFF'S MINI PLAZA

Picture
December 16 -- As Village Trustee and self-described history buff Ed Lieberman explains it, he first noticed the simple plaque about eight feet up on the side of the building at the northeast corner of Roslyn  and Sea Cliff Avenues when he first moved into the Village.  It reads simply, "I like to see a man proud of the community in which he lives." -Abraham Lincoln.

Two decades later, soon after he was elected to the Village Board, Mr. Lieberman was reading through the Sea Cliff Museum's "Salute to Sea Cliff's Parks and Other Public Areas," published in 1985, and was particularly struck by the blurb about the street corner known as "Mini Plaza."  READ MORE

GIDDY UP GIDDY UP GIDDY UP LET'S GO . . . WE'RE RIDING IN A WONDERLAND OF SNOW

December 15, 2013 -- No - that's not an 1880's Currier and Ives lithograph. It's Main Avenue in Sea Cliff this past Saturday evening as Christmas season revelers mounted a carriage to go a-caroling through the streets of the Victorian Village.  The carriage caroling excursions were a part of St. Boniface Church's annual Christmas Celebration which also included the blessing of the Creche, a Christmas Tree Lighting and an opportunity to warm up afterwards in the Church gymnasium with hot cocoa, coffee, hot dogs, cookies, cartoon Christmas classics, and of course, Santa.  (Click here or on image for more pictures.)

NORTH SHORE MADRIGALS PERFORM AT OUR SAVIORS CHURCH IN GLEN HEAD

Picture
December 15 -- This past Friday Evening, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Glen Head resounded with the joyful voices of the North Shore High School Madrigals.  The group performed a rich variety of holiday standards, spirituals and classical pieces. They included Down to the River, Carol of the Bells, Chanukah, O Chanukah, and Silent Night.  With little encouragement needed, the audience enthusiastically joined in for Joy to the World and Jingle Bells.  And as the concert neared its conclusion, many accepted choir director Michael Kerschner's invitation to join the Madrigals in the front of the sanctuary to sing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.
