February 4, 2015 -- In a meeting with the Trustees and Mayor at Tuesday evening's Sea Cliff Village Board Conference, representatives of New York American Water announced their intention to sell the water company's Prospect Avenue property in Sea Cliff.  Brian Bruce, New York American Water's Vice President of Operations, spoke of the company's plans after presenting on the various capital improvements the company has made and intends to make in this service area which includes Sea Cliff and Glen Head as well as sections of Old Brookville and Glenwood Landing and a very small part of Glen Cove.  READ MORE

SEA CLIFF SCHOOL AND NASSAU COUNTY MUSEUM PARTNER IN ART

February 4, 2015 -- Sea Cliff Elementary third graders did not have to go too far to actually experience the art, history and culture of China as they began their unit of study of the world's most populous nation and oldest civilization.  Working in collaboration with the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor through its Art Partners program, the third grade teachers and museum education staff acted as docents, leading the young students through the museum's current exhibit -  China:Then and Now, an exploration of three millennia of Chinese art - each through a different medium.  READ MORE

SUPERINTENDENT REDUCES BUDGET PROPOSAL BY $275,000 WHILE RECOMMENDING CREATION OF SCIENCE RESEARCH TEACHING POSITION

February 1, 2015 -- At Thursday evening's Board of Education meeting, North Shore Schools Superintendent Dr. Edward Melnick recommended shaving approximately $380,000 from the initial 2015-16 budget draft that had been presented two weeks ago, while proposing that the district spend an additional $105,000 to create a new science research teaching position.   The $97,575,530 spending plan now represents an increase of 1.8% over the current year - down from the 2.09% increase in the initial draft.  READ MORE

February 3, 2015 --At Thursday’s North Shore Board of Education meeting the seven trustees and Superintendent discussed the idea of reducing bus transportation distance requirements for students in Middle School. . .  The issue came up during the “Old Business” portion of the meeting, when Trustee Michael Nightingale said that he had received calls from several  parents  who questioned why their children who had received bus transportation in fifth grade, were no longer receiving it in sixth.  READ MORE
