NEW RACE COURSE FOR NORTH SHORE TURKEY TROT TAKES RUNNERS THROUGH STREETS OF GLEN HEAD

December 1, 2013 -- On Sunday morning, approximately 130 runners of all ages turned out for the 2013 North Shore Turkey Trot.  The five kilometer race began on North Street near the Waldbaum's Shopping Center and took runners through the streets of Glen Head past the elementary school and across Glen Head Road into the hilly Promenade neighborhood, and then back out onto Glen Head Road and finally into the Community Center parking lot to the finish line.

The top finisher with a winning time of 18:08.5 was Brian Michalak, 18, of Glen Head, who narrowly edged out Peter Dayre, 16, in a sprint to the tape by .6 seconds.  In the Women's division, Stacie Nadel, 16, crossed the finish line first, at 20:20.9, and Diana Vizza, 15, crossed 5 seconds later.

Prior to the 5k event, about a dozen young people competed in the Kids Fun Run . . .

VOTE YES ON DECEMBER 3

November 24, 2013
Christine Hughes

I am writing in support of the proposed Infrastructure Bond (“Bond”) that the North Shore School District (“District”) will vote on December 3, 2013.  I make this recommendation because the Bond is the only responsible way to finance required infrastructure projects.  As a former attorney for the New York City Buildings Department, I have witnessed the devastating results of failing to maintain critical infrastructure.   READ MORE
