China Then and Now brings together exemplary Chinese works of art from the classical, early modern and contemporary periods. The exhibition explores three millennia of one of the world’s most important artistic traditions from the perspective of American collectors on Long Island, such as Childs and Frances Frick and Dr. Arthur M. POSITIONS OPEN FOR NS SCHOOLS LAC

The North Shore Board of Education is looking for members to join the Legislative Action Committee (LAC), the Citizen’s Advisory Committee of the Board for the purpose of serving as a liaison between the community and our Trustees regarding legislative matters that have a direct bearing on fiscal or educational aspects of the North Shore Central School District. 

If you are interested in becoming a member of LAC, please submit an application to the District Clerk, Betty Ciampi, byWednesday, November 25, 2014 to the Central Office (112 Franklin Avenue, Sea Cliff, New York, 11579). Applications can be picked up in the Central Office or online on the North Shore Schools website at www.northshoreschools.org (under the Board of Education/LAC section).

ASSEMBLYMAN LAVINE URGES COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SUSPEND SCHOOL ZONE CAMERA PROGRAM

October 29, 2014 -- State Assemblyman Charles Lavine, who represents the North Shore areas of Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, and Glenwood Landing, is urging County Executive Edward Mangano to suspend the school zone speed camera program that has frustrated and infuriated drivers since its implementation this past September.

SEA CLIFF SCHOOL AND VILLAGE COMMITTEE PARTNERSHIP SEEKS TO RAISE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND ACTIVISM

October 30, 2014 -- The Sea Cliff Waterfront/ Environmental Committee and Sea Cliff School have formed a partnership in an effort to promote greater environmental consciousness and civic mindedness among school age children.  The seed of the collaboration was planted this past August during a Sea Cliff Village Board meeting attended by several school age children. After 4th graders Dylan Roth and Will Winchester addressed the Board of Trustees regarding their ideas for improvements to the Village, Trustee Ed Lieberman raised the possibility of extending that evening's hands-on learning experience to include community activism, and encouraged the young people in attendance to attend the next Waterfront/ Environmental Committee meeting.  READ MORE


SEA CLIFF FARMERS MARKET CONCLUDES A SUCCESSFUL INAUGURAL SEASON; WILL BE OPEN FOR CHILL OUT

The Sea Cliff Farmers Market concluded its first season this past Saturday.  Market organizer Amy Peters, commented, "It was very successful and we loved doing it.  I am very passionate about bringing really healthy, organic, fresh food to the community and happy to support local farms.  We had a lot of people thank us for being here, which made us feel good."  
While the Saturday sale is on hiatus until early June, the Farmers Market will set up for Chill Out in Sea Cliff on the evening of November 7th. "We will have local, organic veggies, raw honey, fresh bread and some gluten free goodies, too!" Ms. Peters said. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Mutual Concerns.

GLEN COVE YOUTH BUREAU SEEKS DONATIONS FOR THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS

           Each year, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau collaborates with other social service agencies in Glen Cove to provide families in need with all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner. Working together, the agencies provide dinner to over 350 families each year, approximately 100 of which originate with the Youth Bureau.  This effort is only possible with the donations the Bureau receives from the public.  READ MORE
