A HOMECOMING WITH HORNED HELMETS

Under sunny skies and with perfect fall temperatures, maroon and white, and horned helmets abounded as the North Shore School District celebrated its annual Homecoming on Saturday.  The day  kicked off at 9:30 am with a parade that made its way along a the one mile route from Glenwood Landing School to the High School.  As the marchers arrived, kids of all ages drifted off to the carnival where they enjoyed, among other things, games, blow-ups, a mechanical bull, and a dunk tank, as well as a demonstration of last year's robotics club creation.  In the early afternoon the stands of the stadium began to fill while elementary school students demonstrated their prowess with the pigskin in the football skills "competition," and their quickness in the 100 yard fun run.  The football Vikings did not disappoint either as they routed the Manhasset Indians 52-31.  Northwordnews reporter and team captain Tristan Vitale scored three touchdowns, while rushing for 89 yards and adding another 74 yards receiving, as the Norseman offense lit up the scoreboard.

SPOOKY PUMPKIN WALK AT SPOOKY PARK

Picture
The Sea Cliff Arts Council is teaming up with SC MakeShop to invite artists young and old to be part of the Spooky Pumpkin Walk.
Carve your own LED-lit-pumpkin and be part of the action. OR if you aren't inspired to carve a pumpkin, be sure to come visit!

MakeShop, a program created to promote kids science and 'maker' projects, realized pumpkins are 'conductive' and can be lit w. LED lights. LED lights can be purchased online. Go to www.facebook.com/scMakeShop to learn the details.

If you participate by donating a pumpkin, you do not have to pay the entrance fee. Be sure to carve only days before the event so it is in good shape for the pumpkin 'walk'!

The event starts at 6:30 so bring your pumpkin by 6 pm.

RSVP if you are going to bring a pumpkin or for more information, contact poojavira@scmakeshop.com

Please spread the word! The more pumpkins the better so hopefully you can join us.
