January 29 -- The Sea Cliff Village Board  presented its proposed revisions to the Village Tree Ordinance at a Town Hall Meeting this past Thursday evening.  The new regulations, if adopted, would significantly loosen restrictions on tree removal in the Village.  READ MORE

LIONS CLUB'S "PUT YOUR GAME FACE ON" RAISES FUNDS FOR CHARITY 

February 3, 2014 -- This past Thursday evening, the Metropolitan Bistro hosted "Put Your Game Face On" a Sea Cliff-Glen Head Lions Club fundraiser to benefit local charities.  Mayor Bruce Kennedy, Village Trustee Ed Lieberman and local Business woman Terry Sciubba  lent a hand as guest bartenders, and reggae band Roots Revelators entertained the packed house.   READ MORE

NS INDEPENDENT PROJECTS IN ART EXHIBIT WORTH THE TRIP TO SEA CLIFF LIBRARY

February 2, 2014 -- The Sea Cliff Arts Council hosted an artists' reception this past Wednesday evening at the Sea Cliff Main Library for North Shore High School's Independent Projects in Art (IPA) students.  North Shore High School art teacher Elissa Theiss described IPA as "a self directed program" in which each senior artist works on a year-long concentration of art, based around a chosen idea or theme.  READ MORE

AT SC LIBRARY MEETING, NYSDEC PRESENTS CLEAN-UP PROPOSAL FOR POWERS CHEMCO SITE IN GLEN COVE

According to the NYSDEC, prior to 1979, when the site across Glen Cove Creek at 71 Charles Street was sold to Powers Chemco, the Columbia Ribbon Carbon and Manufacturing Company had disposed of refuse from the production of blue printing inks, carbon paper and typing ribbon in open pits behind their manufacturing buildings, and that wastes were pumped through a two-inch galvanized pipe from the plant directly into the makeshift repository.  There are three aquifers in the area of the contaminated site, one of which is the principal source of drinking water in the city of Glen Cove.
