CORRECTING THE RECORD

Received from Phil Como, Sea Cliff, NY
March 3, 2017

To the Editor:
I thought I would respond to Dan Maddock's letter of your last issue, wherein he describes me as "currently heading the Civic Progress Party, but he's given a front page article on how wonderful the status quo is in Sea Cliff."   A couple of facts need to be heard:

1. I do articles in the Village Bulletin for virtually every issue and have done so going back to Dan's time as editor. Karen Montagnese has been editor for at least two issues and I have done work in both. This latest piece on Sea Cliff is apolitical in nature-essentially providing a word picture for uninitiated residents on how Sea Cliff came to be and how it currently works. Status quo??  READ MORE

TRUSTEE DEB McDERMOTT

Received from Tom Murphy, Glenwood Landing (formerly of Sea Cliff)
March 9, 2017

To the Editor:
I am proud to call Deb McDermott my friend. As a 30 year Sea Cliff resident, I had the privilege and good fortune to know Deb and her husband Dan, along with their two children since they moved into Sea Cliff. I‘ve known her in her role as a mother, a devoted wife, neighbor, an active community member and a colleague on the Legislative Action Committee of the NS School District.  READ MORE

WORKING TOWARD A MORE REPONSIVE GOVERNMENT

Received from Mayor Edward Lieberman, Sea Cliff
March 10, 2017

To the Editor:

To address the recent transition wherein I was selected as Mayor, I am setting forth the statement I publicly read on December 12th and which has been posted on our village's website. I do this to  again set forth the factors that the Board of Trustees considered at that time.  But in a larger sense, I want to emphasize that, as your Mayor, I will always endeavor to  continuously listen to your concerns and various points of view. The lesson of the public's views and those views'  value is acknowledged. It is always our goal to listen to your concerns and be better from it. READ MORE

DEB McDERMOTT IS A COALITION BUILDER

Received from Amy Marion, Sea Cliff, NY
March 7, 2017

To the Editor:

On March 21, 2017, the Village of Sea Cliff will hold elections for the Mayor and for two open Trustee seats. Three individuals are running for the Trustee seats, one elected incumbent, one recently appointed incumbent, and Deb McDermott. The recently appointed Mayor who will be on the ballot is running unopposed. The incumbents who are looking for your vote claim to support the opposition to the Garvies Point Waterfront Project and claim that environmental issues are important to them. READ MORE

DINA EPSTEIN DESERVES YOUR VOTE

Received from Fred Eisenstein, Sea Cliff
March 11, 2017

To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in support of the re-election of Dina Epstein for Trustee. Full disclosure here: I am Dina’s husband, so please feel free to take this with as many grains of salt as you see fit.  I have been a resident of Sea Cliff for over 34 years. When I moved to the NYC area from out of state, I knew that this was exactly where I wanted to settle. Why has Sea Cliff managed to remain the small New England style village it is, without merging into the faceless suburbia that surrounds it? READ MORE

APPOINTMENT BASED ON DEVOTION TO SEA CLIFF - NOT POLITICS

Received from Edward L. Lieberman  , Sea Cliff, NY
March 6, 2017

To the Editor:
Recently I reached out to Deb McDermott and extended my hand in welcoming her to the campaign in the upcoming village election.    I wanted her to know, as I now want every resident of Sea Cliff to know, that the democratic administration of government in our village will always be founded upon the cornerstone of the free marketplace of ideas  with the public participating  in open debate. WE NEED OTHER VOICES IN THE MIX

Received from Debra Dumas, Sea Cliff, NY
March 9, 2017

To the Editor:
I would like to express my strong support for Deb McDermott’s candidacy for Sea Cliff Village Trustee.  I did not know her before this, but I have met her now and listened to what she has to say. I have given a lot of deliberation to it and she will have my vote.  It isn’t that I think anything is necessarily wrong with the day to day running of the Village.  It is because I am concerned about the closed circle that our village government has become.  READ MORE

DINA EPSTEIN - A TIRELESS ADVOCATE FOR SEA CLIFF

Received from Kevin McGilloway, Sea Cliff
March 11, 2017

To the Editor:
I think that it is wonderful that we have three residents vying for the two open Trustee positions in this year’s Sea Cliff Village election, affording the community a choice. Two candidates, Jeff Vitale and Deborah McDermott, are presenting themselves in their first election, which I applaud and wish them both well. I am writing this letter in support of the third candidate, Dina Epstein, with whom I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with for the last 5 years (3 on the Zoning Board and the last 2 as a fellow Trustee).
