Annual Celebration of Student Work
North Shore High School Cafeteria, Tuesday, May 20 from 7 AM-10 PM North Shore School District will hold its annual Celebration of Student Work honoring its students’ academic, artistic, athletic and co-curricular accomplishments. “It is so important to celebrate the vitality, dynamism, creativity and joy our students bring to their schools every day. Amidst all of the testing pressures exerted on kids today, we have to remember to see and celebrate the whole child” said Greg Perles, Teacher Union Vice President. Come join the Celebration applauding the wonderful achievements of our students in all five North Shore Schools all day on: Tuesday, May 20, 2014 NS High School Cafeteria 7 AM -10 PM Parents and residents are invited to walk around the cafeteria to admire the large array of student work and watch a number of multimedia presentations projected on the big screens. Mr. Perles added, “The teachers, secretaries and TAs who work and live here are proud to put their time and resources into this annual exhibit. The student work makes it clear that this district has remarkable kids, wonderful families, strong communities, talented educators and vibrant schools staffed by superb professionals.” Additionally, from 3 pm - 10 pm in the HS Cafeteria, computers will be set up for a North Shore Schools “Student Vote” based on a school-related topic pertaining to their respective school. The opportunity for our students to vote in Grades K-7 is an extension of the social studies and civics curriculum. At 6 pm in the NS High School Library on May 20, there will also be a “Welcome to Kindergarten Story Session” featuring Superintendent Dr. Melnick and the kindergarten teachers. Mr. Perles concluded by saying, “This exhibit is proof of the power of partnership. This is what happens when we combine the talents and efforts of our union, our Board, our administration and our communities.” Students should be reminded to wear the school colors of maroon and white in celebration of the district-wide Spirit Day!
