1.  North Shore Varsity Baseball:
This week was a great week for the North Shore Varsity Baseball team. The team took the series by winning 2 of 3 games against Valley Stream South. On Monday, Connor Hehn pitched 7 scoreless innings and unfortunately the Vikings didn't score as well. In the 8th inning, Kenny Belanger came in and shut down VSS. In the bottom of the 8th, Max Scott hit a walk-off single and Nick Luchesse was the winning run. The final score was 1-0 and Kenny Belanger was the winning pitcher.

On Tuesday, the Vikings had a tough loss even though Francis Dromm pitched an amazing game. The team couldn't score enough runs in the 3-2 loss against VSS.

The Vikings came back strong in game 3 on Thursday scoring 3 runs in the first inning. Dan Livoti hit a homerun in his first varsity at bat which pulled the Vikings towards victory. Max Scott pitched an amazing game and held VSS to only one run. The Vikings won 7-1 and Max Scott was the winning pitcher.

On Saturday, the Vikings held a car wash which was a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association from 10 AM- 2 PM. The team raised over $500 for a great cause!

2.  North Shore Varsity Boys Track Team:
The boys track team has had only one loss so far this season with a current
record of 11 and 1. In their last home meet, the boys beat Wantagh and
Hewlett both by more than 20 points. Dylan Welch won the 400 and 200, Justin Rivera won the 400 hurdles and the 800 and Nick Lacomba, Jack Rosencrans and Colin O'Sullvan took first , second and third in the 3200. Jared Bazan had a huge race in the 1600 and Sal Cacavale anchored the relay to help solidify the win.Earlier in the week North Shore hosted the Freshmen, Sophomore Meet where North Shore dominated the competition. Freshman Jack Rosencrans won the 1600 and Colin O'Sullivan won for the sophomores. Nick Lacomba and Oscar Varella took one, two in the 800 and the Fresman relay of James Vizza, Jaeden Seneca, Luka Marran and Andrew Gerard easily defeated the competition.Provided by Coach Corona

3.  North Shore Varsity Softball:
Hello NS Softball Families, We hope everyone is enjoying watching the girls play this year. Tom and I are thrilled to have you there for so many games...especially with such long drives! Tom and I would like to remind you that Saturday April 30th is our final HOME game. Start time is 10:00 AM vs. Roosevelt. It's the NS Softball program tradition that we celebrate our seniors before the first pitch on our last home game...SENIOR DAY!!  The rest of the team is working hard to plan a memorable send off for our four seniors:# 20 Elisa Anobile, SS/U, # 5    Brooke Bonn, P/DP, # 6 Courtney Gilmartin, 1B, and # 21 Jessica Gioia, 3B/U.  We would love for all of you to join us on the field, for a few minutes before the game to take pictures of the seniors alone, with parents, and of course with their teammates. If you would like to join us please be on the field at 9:40! Equally as important, we will be having pizza and goodies after the game.  We are happy to include siblings in our pizza party, so please let us know how many people to expect for lunch by Thursday 4/28. We want to make sure we have enough food for everyone.  We can go on about how proud we are of these girls but that's what Awards Night is for! Thank you for allowing us to share this 2016 softball experience with your daughters. They are truly a wonderful group of young ladies.
See you on the field!
Coaches Granieri & Papetti

4.    North Shore Varsity Girls Track Team:
The Girls Spring Track and Field Team had a full week of competition and travel. Earlier in the week, the team hosted against Mepham and Wantagh in a high level competition. Some top performances were earned by Senior Amanda Giannattasio and Sophomore Theresa Scarola in the 400m hurdles. Scarola also ran her best time in the 100m hurdles later on in the competition. Killian (Kiki) Doyle made her debut in the 1500m and ran nicely. Junior Celeste Costello and Sophomore Lili Sturge ran their best performances of the season in the 400m. Senior Diana Vizza, Senior Stephanie Bazan, and Freshman Emma Rivera ran their best times of the season in the 800m and placed 1-3 in the process. The 4x100 relay consisting of Costello, Sturge, Scarola and Freshman Caroline Reiner ran their fastest times of the season as well. The team will be traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for some great days of spring training and then off to the famous Penn Relays in Pennsylvania for some world class exciting competition.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS (past week):
1.   North Shore Varsity Baseball:
This week was a very successful week for the Varsity baseball team. We won our first league-play series against Bethpage High School, taking two out of three games. Monday, we came out strong with the help and preparation of the coaching staff and won 7-1. Tuesday, we had practice inside due to the bad weather and used the time to work on the pitchers' timing pick offs and our team hitting in the cages. Wednesday, we had an outdoor practice and took batting practice on field. This practice was short and light in preparation for our Thursday game. Thursday we came out strong once again and won 4-0 on the road. Unfortunately on Friday we lost 3-1 after battling back in the final two innings of play. It was an overall successful week for the Varsity baseball team. The general attitude and moral of the team is quite good and we collectively have no complaints about practice, gameplay, or the coaching staff. We all look forward to the remaining league games.
By Frank Castiglione and the Varsity Baseball Team

2.   North Shore Varsity Women’s Lacrosse:
The North Shore Varsity Women’s Lacrosse team is off to a great start for the 2016 season.  With an overall record of 3-1, the Vikings had two big one-goal victories over Sacred Heart Academy and the defending Class A County Champions, Syosset.  The girls also beat a very solid Long Beach team, with a score of 12-9.  The team is led by senior captains; Sarah Checca, Madalyn Conklin, Danielle Inzerillo, and Kelly Johansen.  Last week, we attended the Stony Brook/UMBC game.  This was a great opportunity for the girls to see a D1 collegiate program play.  The girls got a tour of the facilities and saw their post-game speech.  This upcoming week is a big week for the Vikings with four upcoming games.  On April 16th at 10 am at the High School turf, North Shore will be hosting its first annual cystic fibrosis game.  We will be honoring Madalyn and Frankie Conklin and will be donating all profits to the Make a Wish Foundation.  Please come out to support the team!
By Megan McCormack

3.   North Shore Varsity Softball:
This week, North Shore varsity softball continued their undefeated streak over Malverne, Roosevelt and Friends Academy. Julianna Broccolo went 4-for-5 for three RBIs, Courtney Gilmartin went 2-for-3 for two RBIs.  Home runs this week were scored by Jenny Walton, Taylor Berry and Elisa Anobile. Ally Johanson and Brooke Bonn did great on the mound! Keep up the great work North Shore!!!!!!
By Julianna Broccolo

PLAYER/TEAM RECOGNITION(S)
1.   North Shore Varsity Baseball:  Dan Livoti
Dan Livoti was untouchable on Saturday, throwing a perfect game in the North Shore Vikings JV's 6-0 victory over Bethpage.   No Bethpage (NY) batter was able to locate Livoti's pitches during the game. Livoti threw a perfect game, striking out seven batters while recording his momentous feat. Livoti only threw 59 pitches, 50 of them for strikes. One batter was able to get to three balls for an at bat. Livoti threw no more than 5 balls in any inning. Marc Aufiero made a diving catch for the last out of the game to secure Livoti’s perfect game.

On Saturday, October 24th, the North Shore HS varsity football team hosted its first annual “Pink Out” game to support the American Cancer Society. Josh Mandell, a senior lineman orchestrated the entire even as part of his senior internship. With the help of some of his teammates, Josh set up the fundraiser by pre-selling North Shore Football t-shirts with a special design in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Through his efforts, Josh was able to raise $1,200.00. In a pre-game ceremony, a check was present to Meagan Stewart of the American Cancer Society. To further raise awareness, the team all wore pink socks and the coaching staff wore purple ribbon lapel pins to honor former football coach Frank Rossi who battled pancreatic cancer back in 2009. BILLY BIANCO'S TWO-RUN SINGLE LIFTS NASSAU ALL-STARS: from Newsday June 22nd

 By Gregg Sarra

This article was printed by Newsday June 22nd:

Billy Bianco had an outstanding season for North Shore. He batted .540 in the two-hole, scored 22 runs and drove in 14 to lead the Vikings to the Nassau Class A final. His selection for Monday night 's Blue Chip Prospects Grand Slam Challenge was icing on a dream season.

"I just wanted to come out and play to my ability,'' said Bianco, who will study finance at Villanova. "I was surrounded by all these Division I athletes who are going to play college baseball. I felt overmatched at first, but I calmed down during the infield-outfield pregame.''

Bianco's two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and sent the Nassau All-Stars to a 3-1 win over the Suffolk All-Stars in the 11th Grand Slam Challenge before 550 fans at Farmingdale State College.

"I battled in the at-bat,'' said Bianco, who earned the MVP award. "I fouled off three good pitches before getting the hit. It was an awesome feeling.''

Bianco lined a 2-and-2 pitch into centerfield to drive in Beau O'Connell of Chaminade and Anthony Papa of Division, and the rest was left to a dominant pitching staff, which held Suffolk to one hit in the final five innings. St. Dominic righthander Reiss Knehr earned the save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Papa, who earned Nassau's Diamond Award as the county's best player, greeted Connetquot's Travis Bruinsma with a line-drive triple into the right-centerfield gap to lead off the fifth. Papa scored when Wheatley's Andrew Hastings lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

"Coach [Chris Sipp] told me the pitcher had a great curveball, and I decided I wouldn't let him get to use it,'' Papa said. "I went up there thinking first-pitch fastball because it's an all-star game and he wants to light up the gun like everyone else. You have to be aggressive and have fun in these games. I'm definitely not that guy going up there looking for a walk.''

Papa, who was named the game's offensive MVP, also was in the middle of Nassau's go-ahead rally in the sixth, scoring on Bianco's hit.

Suffolk's run came in the first inning. Smithtown East shortstop Pat Lagravinese lined a one-out single the opposite way to leftfield, the first of his two hits. He came around to score on a fielder's choice and a throwing error for the 1-0 lead.

Suffolk squandered two huge scoring opportunities in the fourth and seventh innings, leaving the bases loaded both times.
