HERE A CHICK, THERE A CHICK... EVERYWHERE A CHICK CHICK...

Yes, we need chickens. We need them in our communities.  It betters us as humans to take care of another animal. Sometimes it is dogs, other time cats, occasionally rabbits or birds and then the other rare more exotic animals that quite frankly belong in the wild. We as humans gain a richer experience by having other life forms that we care for and nurture.  Sometimes chickens serve this purpose. Chickens make excellent companions and actually have a surprising intellect. In addition, they can supply us with food. READ MORE

Dear Great Book Guru,  My whole family will be at the Sea Cliff Civic Association’s annual Turkey Hunt this Sunday  November 27 at 2pm at Geohagen Park, aptly also known as “Headless” Park.    Two hundred tiny toy turkeys will be hiding in trepidation, awaiting the arrival of their leader: the Great Turkey Himself! Heidi Hunt and her merry troupe of teens will  be there serving refreshments. Waiting for the hunt to begin, I will certainly need a good book- any suggestions?    Huge Fan of the Great Turkey Himself

ART OPENINGS AND LECTURES

NATURAL SELECTION BY HEIDI HUNT AT THE SEA CLIFF VILLAGE LIBRARY NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

Picture
The Sea Cliff Arts Council presents the work of local artist Heidi Hunt in a series of photographs titled 'Natural Selection' on display at the Sea Cliff Village Library now through December 2016.    The work focuses on the organization and placement of organic structures and their interplay with positive and negative space. Heidi primarily works photographing architecture and man-made structures but found herself inspired by the natural world around her. In this series she chose to focus on the structural elements of natural objects and to reveal a closer look at all of the orderly details that compose those objects. The presence of saturated color adds another dimension to the organized patterns created by nature.  Please join us for an artist's reception this Sunday Nov. 6th from 3-5pm at the Sea Cliff Village Library, 300 Sea Cliff Avenue.  READ MORE

The North Shore Votes!
The exhibit showcases a variety of political memorabilia and historic photographs that illustrate the many ways North Shore residents have participated in local, state and national politics. Political brochures, election guides and a garden of lawn signs complement the historical passages in this exhibit that extends beyond the political campaign to the citizen groups that work behind the scenes, and it also highlights the accomplishments of the many people who have answered the call to serve the community.
