TURKEY TROTTERS RUN, WALK, AND JOG THROUGH STREETS OF GLEN HEAD IN THANKSGIVING DAY TRADITIONNovember 25, 2016 -- With arms linked, North Shore High Schoolers Oscar Varela, Jack Rosencrans, and Colin O'Sullivan crossed the finish line first in a time of 18:27 in this year's North Shore Community Youth Organization's annual Turkey Trot held this past Thanksgiving morning. More than 300 participants of all ages, most running but others moving at a more leisurely pace, turned out for the five kilometer race that began on Glen Head Road in front of Holiday Farms and continued through the streets of the hamlet past the elementary school and then northward into the hilly Promenade neighborhood, and eventually back to the Community Center where trotters were greeted by cheering family and friends at the finish line. The top women's runner, with a time of 21:47.7, was Emily UhryNuk, of Glen Head. The event was organized by the High School Track and Field coaches Neil Levy and Ed Corona and North Shore Community Youth Organization Executive Director Mike Capobianco.
