MUTUAL CONCERNS FUNDRAISER AT SEA CLIFF BEACH AUGUST 19
![]() Due to proposed cutbacks by the current federal administration Mutual Concerns needs help. In their 2018 budget, they plan on eliminating funding for the Community Development Block Grant program. The Budget devolves community and economic development activities to the State and local level, and redirects Federal resources to other activities. So basically programs like Meals on Wheels and other similar community programs will be kept in a holding pattern until another way of... funding is put in place. What we will do is take the initiative and try to fund oursleves to the best of our ability until other grants or other resources are available. There our people in need in our community that cant afford to wait and need our ongoing support. If you can donate food to the food pantry just bring it Sea Cliff Village Hall in Sea Cliff.
One of the ways we are planning on making up the shortfall is through a concert fundraiser at Sea Cliff Beach and several guest bartending themed fundraisers with live music at local bars (1st one is at Still Partners on 8/16) and restaurants and an online fundraising campaign. The concert at Sea Cliff Beach will be held on August 19th from 5:30pm to 10:30pm and will feature local artists (Cathy Rose Virgilio first and then The Lazy Dogs) opening up for Andy Aledort and the Groove Kings with Chris Kinnear. Andy has been touring for the last eight years with Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers and plays slide guitar in the band so we are really expecting a great show. The Beach Café will be open and serving food and drinks. There will also be arts and crafts and T-shirts for sale with partial proceeds going to the charity. The concert is open to everyone and there is a suggested donation of $10.00 for Mutual Concerns.
