26 seventh and eighth graders from North Shore Middle School are participating in the Long Island Math Fair 2016. The Fair represents a culmination of six months of hard work, researching, writing, and preparing presentations. Many thanks to their Math Fair Club advisors, Kristin Frayler and Tiffany Falcone, and all of the middle school math teachers for their continued dedication and assistance to our students during this intensive process.

In February, students presented their math displays to their parents, peers, and administrators including Assistant Principal Rachel Green and Teacher Leader Amy DiMeola. Important feedback was provided to help prepare the math students for the preliminary round of the LI Math Fair which was on February 26th at Hofstra University.

The following students participated in the LI Math Fair: Sophie Blumenthal, Dean Caldwell, Claudia Scala, Lauren Hagen, Sophie Rosencrans, Aiden Mandell, Lucia Martin, Christina Efstathiadis, Kelly Weber, Michalis Stylianou, Lucas Castle, Scott Lenney, Patrick Reynolds, Richie Sun, Henry Purcell, Sam Rosencrans, Andrew McLellan, Cole Jacklin, Matt Drivas, Sarah Moughal, Harrison Gillman, Carly Thoet, Kyra McCreery, Kathryn Hunt, Dylan Hoell, and Esmé Reilly.
One of the middle school students stated, "Our teachers are awesome and they helped us through the entire process. They had notes handy on what we can do to improve for the next round. We were one of the very few schools that almost everyone made it to the next round. I am so glad I took this elective."
Ms. Tiffany Falcone said, “Our Students shined by exploring some unique topics and connections this year including Illusions, Math in Aviation, topology, and magic squares. For years, North Shore has received the highest number of Gold Medals of any Long Island School district at the Long Island Math Fair. Best of luck!
