GLEN COVE'S MARVIN FLOYD PERFORMS AT GLEN COVE VILLAGE SQUARE FRIDAY AUGUST 5TH

Picture
Glen Cove, New York - July 22, 2016 - Renowned keyboardist, composer and producer Marvin Floyd will play in his hometown during week six of the 2016 Downtown Sounds Concert Series at the Glen Cove Village Square Plaza on August 5 at 7:30 pm. Floyd has performed numerous times in the 19-year history of Downtown Sounds and his shows are always high-energy events with multiple musical genres featured.

Floyd began playing the organ at the age of six after being inspired by his musician brothers. He was playing in a band by the age of 12 and writing and composing music not long thereafter. After a short stint at I.M.G. Records, he founded Nivram Productions, a recording studio in Glen Cove. Producing at his own studio allowed Floyd to further develop his musical skills and he also benefitted from performing with musical legends like The O’Jays, Lou Rawls and Aretha Franklin. In 2003, he won CD101.9’s New Artists Showcase and in recent years has served as the musical director for Hip Hop Princess Ashanti. He also joined Ashanti for a recent world tour.

Keeping the company of legends like Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau and Michael Jackson has profoundly influenced Marvin Floyd’s style of playing. However, despite his worldwide acclaim, he always welcomes the opportunity to “act locally” by sharing his gift of love and music with his hometown. A good time is sure to be had by all, so do not miss this special event.
