January 19 -- Angelo Grande, the Nassau County American Legion Commander, presented to the Glen Head Glenwood Business Association at its monthly meeting this past Wednesday evening. Mr. Grande spoke of the various services that the American Legion and other groups and individuals provide for vets and the community. They include the American Legion's clothing drives and other help for homeless veterans, and the VetDogs Program which works to improve lives by teaming disabled veterans with specially trained assistance dogs. In addition to these national programs, he spoke of the efforts of local posts and individuals, such as those of former U.S. Marine Sergeant Bill Urianek, who has supported service members who have been disabled in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq by cashing in cans and bottles he's collected from his Mineola neighbors for the past decade.
The Business Association's next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 19th – 6pm at American Legion Post #336 – 190 Glen Head Road, Glen Head. In addition to opportunities for networking, it will feature a round table with Media & Local Advertising Newspapers/Magazines. All are welcome to attend.
