Received from Edward L. Lieberman , Sea Cliff, NY
March 6, 2017
Recently I reached out to Deb McDermott and extended my hand in welcoming her to the campaign in the upcoming village election.
I wanted her to know, as I now want every resident of Sea Cliff to know, that the democratic administration of government in our village will always be founded upon the cornerstone of the free marketplace of ideas with the public participating in open debate.
However, there has been a recent misnomer, suggested by a few, that my appointment of Jeff Vitale as Village Trustee was predicated upon "partisan politics".
I can assure the residents of Sea Cliff that "partisan politics" played no role in his selection. What was germane and relevant was Jeff's life resume and his life-long love affair for everything that is Sea Cliff.
To further emphasize this point, I am registered to vote, without party affiliation, as an independent voter. Accordingly, my registration as an unaffiliated voter played no partisan role. However, what is important is that I have known Jeff since he was 12 years old and have seen him excel throughout these past many years. I can assure each of you that "partisan politics" was not a factor in his selection. What was a factor, in addition to his overall love for his hometown, was his stated position against the RXR Garvies Point project, his professional expertise in grant writing and administration, his history of working with the youth of our community, and his innate ability to comprehend difficult issues and work with people from all sides of the table towards viable solutions.
As before, in the spirit of everything that is positive about Sea Cliff, I extend best wishes to Deb McDermott.
The voters of Sea Cliff have a choice this March 21 for Village Trustee. I would respectfully ask that your vote be predicated on the factual record. I ask that you support Trustees Dina Epstein & Jeff Vitale in the upcoming village election .
