SC BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE GETS INTO THE SPIRIT AT ANNUAL WREATH-TYING PARTY
The Sea Cliff Beautification Committee held its annual wreath-tying party early this month at the Department of Public Works garage on Altamont Avenue. A dozen volunteers from the community were on hand to contribute their time and energy to the beautification effort.
After a short lesson on the art of wreath decoration from SCBC Vice President Marga Crowley, who has been leading the holiday season effort since 2001, the volunteers got to work attaching bows and strings of lights to the evergreen ornaments as they enjoyed holiday music, refreshments, and each others' company. DPW workers in the days that followed hung the 47 wreaths throughout the village business districts adorning public buildings and light poles along Roslyn Avenue, Sea Cliff Avenue and Glen Cove Avenue from 8th Avenue all the way to the Middle School. The Committee is looking forward to its next major event - the Gardens Tour which will be coming this Spring. In addition to the garden tour and its efforts in bringing holiday cheer to the Village, the Sea Cliff Beautification Committee provides a great many services to the community throughout the year. They include: maintaining parks; beautifying and maintaining small patches of greenery throughout the village; adorning the light poles along Sea Cliff Avenue with flower baskets during warm months; upgrading and maintaining the Central Park playground; and sponsoring an annual spring plant sale. The SCBC is open to all residents and Sea Cliff-o-philes and invites all to join in its efforts at maintaining and enhancing the Village's beauty. BACK TO WEEKLY |
