SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDS COLD SPRING HARBOR'S JEANETTE WOJCIK FOR SEA CLIFF PRINCIPAL POSTby Shelley Newman, North Shore Schools Director of Public Relations
May 10, 2019 -- After a comprehensive interviewing process, Superintendent Dr. Peter Giarrizzo is very pleased to announce the recommendation of Ms. Jeanette Wojcik to the Board of Education, as the next Principal of Sea Cliff Elementary School effective July 1, 2019. The interview process was led by Superintendent Dr. Giarrizzo, Assistant Superintendent Mr. Robert Chlebicki, and Principal/Assistant Superintendent select, Dr. Christopher Zublionis, along with committees consisting of members of the community, faculty, and staff. Dr. Giarrizzo said, “Throughout the process, Ms. Wojcik emerged as a calm, steady and thoughtful leader. She is an outstanding communicator who is keenly focused on excellent teaching and learning. Her vast experiences in Cold Spring Harbor in concert with her core values are an outstanding match for the mission of both Sea Cliff School and the North Shore Schools. In addition, she is a careful listener who is eager to learn the culture and meet the students, faculty, staff, and parents of Sea Cliff School.” I am truly honored and excited to join the Sea Cliff School community as their new principal,” said Ms. Wojcik. “It is evident that Sea Cliff is a learning environment rich with opportunities, and I’m excited to become part of a community that fosters engagement and empowers learners to reach their highest potential.” In her words and actions, Ms. Wojcik’s believes that a leader must inspire students and educators to ignite their own flame for learning. Ms. Wojcik is currently from the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District, where she inspires educators and students alike. Her sixteen-year career in elementary education ranges from classroom educator, reading specialist, and lead teacher. Ms. Wojcik has presented at national conferences such as the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence conference on Fostering a Growth Mindset and Grit in the Elementary School. Dr. Christopher Zublionis noted that, “Ms. Wojcik possesses the deep knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, and students that make her an ideal fit for Sea Cliff School. Her empathetic and reflective nature will be welcomed by students, faculty, and parents.” Ms. Wojcik earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College and a Master of Science in Literacy from C. W. Post, Long Island University. She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from C.W. Post, Long Island University, and is an honored member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She is currently pursuing a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Giarrizzo stated, “I will recommend the appointment of Ms. Jeanette Wojcik to the Board of Education on May 30, 2019. I believe her entry to the North Shore School District will be meticulously thought through, as she will also benefit from the strong support of Dr. Zublionis, myself, and the faculty and staff as she begins her tenure at Sea Cliff School.” A formal meet and greet will be scheduled in the upcoming weeks. |
