NORTH SHORE RELAY FOR LIFE 2014 RAISES OVER $100,000 FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETYJune 9, 2014 -- After several months of preparation, and with a fundraising goal of $100,000, Relay for life of North Shore 2014 held its culminating event at the high school field this past Saturday evening. Cancer survivors, caregivers and several hundred supporters turned out to memorialize loved ones who lost their lives to cancer, and to honor those who have survived their battle with the disease. Once again the residents off Sea Cliff opened their hearts to help the Sea Cliff Library. The Friends of the Sea Cliff Library held its annual “Giant Gently Used Book Sale” at Garage Day Sale on Saturday, June 7. Hundreds of books, CDs and DVDs were donated and sold. WITH SCUDDER'S POND RESTORATION PROJECT NEARLY COMPLETE, STILL A COUPLE OF ISSUES TO WORK OUTJune 12, 2014 -- The $2.6 million Scudder's Pond restoration project that began this past November, is nearing completion, with the full breadth of the pond and a sandy shoreline now visible to passersby walking or driving along Prospect Avenue, the dredging equipment removed, and the areas of the golf course affected by the work largely restored to their original condition. Two significant issues, however, still need to be addressed before the project is complete. READ MORE

JAMES JOYCE SOCIETY OF SEA CLIFF TO CELEBRATE BLOOMSDAY THIS SUNDAYIn celebration of Bloomsday, the anniversary of the day ULYSSES takes place, the James Joyce Society of Sea Cliff, will lead a tour of Sea Cliff/Dublin this Bloomsday eve, Sunday June 15. Starting at the Sea Cliff Water Tower at 8am, the celebrants, under the guidance of Dan and Ann DiPietro, will tour the village stopping at Sea Cliff sites that parallel those in Joyce's classic. FEEL THE SPIRIT! NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY CHORUS TO PERFORM SPIRITUALS ON 6/14- The North Shore Community Chorus (NSCC), under the direction of Stephen Goldstein, will perform their final concert of the 2013-2014 season: an exciting and uplifting performance of African-American spirituals, featuring works by William Dawson, Jester Hairston, Houston Bright, Peter Bagley and Andre Thomas. The NSCC also feature a performance of musical selections by "Musica Schmoozica" directed by Carol Goglia.
The concert will be held on Saturday evening, June 14th at 8:00 p.m. at the North Shore High School Auditorium. Admission is free! BALINESE GEMELAN ENSEMBLE YOWANA SARI TO PERFORM AT CEDARMERE LATER THIS MONTHThe Friends of Cedarmere will host an outdoor concert on Saturday, June 28, starting at 3:30 pm. Following upon a successful fundraising event in May, this is the first musical offering in the group’s inaugural culture series known as Seasons at Cedarmere. To celebrate an exciting new era in the history of this famed residence of poet, journalist and civic leader, William Cullen Bryant, the Friends have invited a spectacular Balinese gamelan ensemble to perform in the Sunken Garden on the Cedarmere grounds.
