IT'S ABOUT HAVING FUN SAYS GWL FOURTH GRADER AND COMPETITIVE CUBER

Twisting and turning the iconic 3-D puzzle, pausing ever so briefly every few seconds to determine  his next move, the gentle clicking providing a jerky yet steady rhythm, Parker Trager completes the challenge, this time at the Sea Cliff School playground for Northwordnews, in about 12 seconds.  Having gotten his first Rubrik’s Cube when he was five, but solving the puzzle for the first time only a year ago (he remembers the date - April 19, 2015), the Glenwood Landing fourth grader has now joined the competitive world of cubing, READ MORE

THANK YOU

Received from Ken Kraft
April 20, 2016

I just wanted to take the moment to thank all of you for your love and support for my family you have shown over the past four months.  Our fundraiser for Cove Animal Rescue on April 16th was truly unbelievable and all of you in attendance made it one special evening for my family and Tommy! My family certainly got a lot bigger that night and all of you are the main reason why.  The more than 300 friends in attendance, the wonderful music from Chicken Head,  the enjoyable snacks from Brookville Deli Caterers, and the tireless efforts by my "small band" of Legion brothers resulted in one generous donation to Cove Animal Rescue.  My family and I are so proud of your support and your being there for Tommy.  I will always cherish your friendship and your efforts to help the Cove Animal Rescue in their attempts to improve the quality of life for the pets that they encounter.
With Love,
Ken, Patti, Lindsay, Kevin, and Rob Kraft.

GROWING WITH YOUR GARDEN

Your garden should evolve, change and grow, just like we do as humans. Many a newbie starts with an aggressive agenda only to see their newly established beds over run with weeds and fall into ruin….. a garden casualty due to the limited amount of time or flexible knees each of us has. But there is a prudent and tested method to avoid this: start small and grow your gardens over time. READ MORE

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - NORTH SHORE BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR THE NORTH SHORE BOE

Received from David Ludmar,
Glenwood Landing
May 4, 2016

To The Editor,

It is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for the North Shore School Board of Education. Having progressed from a casual observer at board meetings to an active participant on the district Superintendent’s Council, Guidance Review and Legislative Action (LAC) committees, I have the knowledge and experience required to represent our community as a steward of our school system, as well as a thorough understanding of the important issues facing American public education. April 17, 2016

To the Editor,

I would like to announce my candidacy for re-election to the North Shore Board of Education.  Through my experiences as a board member over the last three years, I have gained a great deal of insight about the workings of public education both on a local and national scale. I believe this experience makes me an even stronger candidate now than I was three years ago, and I hope to have the opportunity to put my knowledge and skills to work for the North Shore community for another term.  READ MORE
