EDITORIAL WITH RESPONSIBLE SPENDING PLAN IN PLACE, DISTRICT SHOULD APPLY SAME WISDOM TO REVENUE SIDE OF BUDGETThe North Shore Schools Superintendent has wisely proposed a fiscally responsible spending plan that keeps costs in check, in part as a result of needed administrative restructuring. Hopefully the district will apply the same sort of wisdom to the revenue side of the budget by resisting the temptation to make a well-intentioned but politically expedient gesture that would save taxpayers $1 per month - and instead put before voters a tax levy that is not only within the legal limit of 1.898%, but that will also prolong the district's financial health and protect both educational programs and residents' property values. SOBHY SISTERS SQUASH THEIR COMPETITION
Posted March 23, 2014 -- Over the weekend of March 1st, at Drexel University, Sea Cliff resident Amanda Sobhy, a junior at Harvard, successfully defended her individual national collegiate title, by defeating Kanzy El Defrawy of Trinity in three games to win the 2014 Individual Championships.

The Polaroid transfer prints exhibited are a creative application of photography and hand coloring with various mediums. Utilizing only the negative portion of "peel apart" Polaroid color film, which is usually discarded then transferring it to a surface other than Polaroid media. SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDS FURTHER CUTS TO BUDGET PROPOSAL AND A TAX LEVY WELL BELOW THE CAPMarch 23, 2014 -- With more than $1,000,000 having already been shaved from the initial budget draft over the past month, Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Melnick, has recommended trimming an additional $200,000 from next year's spending plan, and reducing the tax levy to a level well below the cap imposed by New York State. The group, led by music teacher Ashley Bordes sang a cappella the German folk song "Lachen, Singen". The Islanders won 2-0.
