HERE WE COME A CAROLING!About a dozen North Shore Middle School students spread holiday cheer "wassailing" Sea Cliff residents this past Sunday evening. Sea Cliff parent Donna Kianka has been organizing the seasonal sing-alongs for several years now. Word has it that she is planning something even bigger for next year.

POTATOVILLE ART EXHIBIT HONORS THE OFTEN UNDER-APPRECIATED TUBERDecember 22, 2013 -- This past Saturday evening, Glenwood Arts and Occupy Potato hosted an opening reception for the exhibit Potatoville: Post Potatoism at the Glenwood Church on Grove Street in Glenwood landing. . . Honoring the often under-appreciated tuber for its importance in human history and perhaps for the countless ways in which it can be prepared, the exhibit's artwork incorporates the potato in a variety of ways - in some as the centerpiece, and in other pieces a bit more subtly. ROGER STREET FRIEDMAN AT STILL PARTNERS IN SEA CLIFFRoger Street Friedman, together with a very talented group of musicians, performed at Still Partners in Sea Cliff this past Thursday night. SC TREE ORDINANCE TOWN MEETING TO BE HELD NEXT MONTH; NEW PROPOSAL WOULD LOOSEN REGULATIONS ON TREE REMOVALDecember 21 -- On January 27th, the Sea Cliff Village Board will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting to discuss proposed revisions to the Village tree ordinance. The meeting is not a public hearing on draft legislation, but rather an opportunity for the community to offer its opinions on what is currently under consideration before such legislation is written. The proposed regulations, if adopted, would significantly loosen restrictions on tree removal in the Village. READ MORE
ROSLYN HARBOR PALM TREE PASSES ITS FIRST TESTDecember 22 -- The palm tree that was planted outside the Roslyn Harbor Village Hall this past summer has survived the season's first two snowfalls, and the frigid temperatures that lasted through much of the first half of December. The tree was donated to the Village by Roslyn Harbor resident Jason Bash, founder and President of Kokomo Trading Company, which specializes in the sale and planting of cold-hardy palms.
