NORTH SHORE FACULTY AND PARENTS PRESS SCHOOL DISTRICT TO REINSTATE EXONERATED MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHERNovember 10, 2013 -- More than 150 North Shore School District faculty members and several parents attended this past Thursday evening’s Board of Education meeting to press the Superintendent and school board to wrap up its investigation of allegations of misconduct against Middle School Physical Education teacher Aaron Kozlowski, and to re-instate Mr. Kozlowski to his teaching position. This was the second consecutive meeting in which the faculty, donning maroon and white and displaying “Standing Up for A Koz” buttons on their chests, filled the center section of the High School auditorium and stood as Union President Bruce Fichtman addressed the Board and Superintendent. At this meeting however, the tone was markedly more assertive than two weeks ago. READ MORE

CHILL OUT CELEBRATES SEA CLIFF CULTURENovember 9, 2013 -- The weather was appropriately cold and brisk, as the first ever “Chill Out in Sea Cliff” was held this past Friday evening. The celebration of the community’s local businesses, musicians, and artists kicked off at 5:30 pm in front of Musu Restaurant on Roslyn Avenue across from the Village Green, with a performance by local band the Lazy Dogs. GLEN HEAD/GLENWOOD BUSINESS ASSOCIATION PREPARES FOR HOLIDAYSNovember 11, 2013 -- This past Saturday morning, members of the Glen Head-Glenwood Business Association gathered at the Glen Head Community Center to repair and replace bulbs on 50 snowflakes that will be hung from lamp-posts throughout the Glen Head-Glenwood business district this holiday season. The group hopes to have the ornaments brightening darkened skies and spreading holiday cheer by Thanksgiving. READ MORE

COMMUNITY HARVEST HONORS 2013 WRITING CONTEST WINNERSNovember 9 -- During Friday evening’s “Chill Out in Sea Cliff” festivities, local high school students, Marianna Hoitt-Lang and Lexi Bennet were awarded scholarships for their entries into the Sea Cliff Community Harvest’s first ever essay writing contest.
Two of the charity’s directors, Frank Scivone and Mayor Bruce Kennedy, were on hand to present the awards to the students. The assignment required the writer to address any topic of social relevance. READ MORE 2013 ELECTION RESULTS - INCUMBENTS DO WELL IN EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE RACES MANGANO, VENDITTO, DERIGGI-WHITTON, TOB COUNCIL WIN RE-ELECTION;BOSWORTH ELECTED TNH SUPERVISORNovember 6 - Several Nassau County and Towns of Oyster Bay and North Hempstead offices were up for grabs this Election Day including County Executive, representatives for the 11th and 18th county legislative districts, TOB Supervisor, TNH Supervisor, and County judgeships. In executive and supervisor races, incumbent parties won re-election. In the County legislature, Democrat Delia Deriggi-Whitton won the 11th legislative district race and Republican Donald MacKenzie won the 18th. The proposed constitutional amendment allowing casino gambling passed easily, while the proposal raising the maximum age of judges failed. Click here for full results.
