TRIBUTE TO FORMER SUPERVISOR JOE COLBY Supervisor John Venditto announced the passing of former Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Colby who had been living in Florida. Mr. Colby, who was 88, served as Supervisor during the 1980s when Mr. Venditto was a town Councilman. Paying tribute to Mr. Colby, Mr. Venditto described the former Supervisor as the most intelligent elected official that he has worked with. "There is an overlap between what I do as a Town Supervisor and what Joe Colby did." he said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
"Mr. Colby not only knew how to speak, but he knew how to listen," the Supervisor continued. Mr. Venditto told about his time working with Mr. Colby and said that "he was the consummate Supervisor." The Board stood and observed a moment of silence in memory of Mr. Colby. Others then spoke kind words about Mr. Colby.

10:18 - 10:26 HEARING P-1-15 To consider the application of S & S Automotive Repair Center, Inc., and 30 Underhill Boulevard, LLC for a Special Use Permit and Modification of Restrictive Covenants and Site Plan Approval for premises located at 30 Underhill Boulevard, Syosset, NY. (M.D. 12/16/14 #13).
Attorney representing S&S described said the property at one time had been a gas station and was requesting a special use permit to allow for the repair shop to use the property for tow truck use, allowing for the parking of three flatbed tow trucks. The attorney said the shop is a AAA shop, and those are the types of calls that would be responded to.
Public Hearing was closed with the decision reserved. 10:23 - 10:33 HEARING Z-1-15 To consider the application of Julie Stein, LLC, for a Change of Zone for premises located at 479 South Oyster Bay Road, Plainview, NY. (M.D. 12/16/14 #14).
The attorney representing Ms. Stein requested a change in R1-7 residential zone resident zone to a R-O resident/office zone. Mr. Venditto commented that there were a stretch of R-O's along that section of road. The Steins, who have been using the property as a law office are seeking to legally change the zone in anticipation of a sale to a prospective buyer who intends to use the space as a dental office. The attorney said that the property will look the same as it always has.
