THE LITTLE WILSON BAND AT DOWNTOWN SOUNDS AUGUST 14th
Glen Cove, NY- Glen Cove Downtown Sounds brings classic R & B good times to downtown with The Little Wilson Band on August 14th. The Northport-based band will provide plenty of danceable music with a groove that can’t be matched. The Little Wilson Band has been entertaining audiences on Long Island and in the Tri State area for over 35 years. Playing rhythm and blues from the 1940's through the 1970’s, they pride themselves in performing an authentic presentation of the music they love. The sextet consists of drummer Dave Leone, Jim Uhl on bass and vocals, Larry Ketchell on keys, guitarist and singer Tom Santoriello, Greg Krokta on harmonica and vocals, and lead singer Allen " Little Wilson " Santoriello. The members of The Little Wilson Band combine expertise and energy for an unforgettable evening.
Opening for them is rising star Gianni Paci: Few artists bear the distinction of transcending demographics as diverse and disparate as teeny-bopper bible Tiger Beat and esteemed arts-and-culture conglomerate Blackbook, but with his alluringly accessible yet surprisingly profound songwriting, Gianni Paci manages to do just that. With rock-star credibility that stretches far beyond his years, and a bachelor's degree from New York University, Paci performs as living proof that the most electrifying entertainers are those whose origins are as idiosyncratic and outlandish as bottled lightning. Every Friday night during July and August, the Downtown Business Improvement District and the City of Glen Cove join forces to bring Downtown Sounds to the Village Square at the intersection of Glen and Bridge Streets. This annual outdoor concert series, which is free to the public, is designed to use music as a promotional tool to boost the local economy. The weekly concerts typically bring 600-1,000 people to the city’s streets, which increases patronage of local businesses including many area restaurants. The event has grown substantially since its debut in 1997 and the city now closes School Street due to the overflow crowds. Presenting sponsors for Downtown Sounds 2015 are Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Garvies Point. Other sponsors include American Community Bank, North Shore-LIJ Glen Cove Hospital, North Coast Subaru, Kimco Realty, American Paving & Masonry Corp., Bridge Marine, The Downtown Cafe and The Glen Cove Printery. Media partner is The SUNY College at Old Westbury, OWWR Old Westbury Web Radio (www.owwrny.org) and OWTV Old Westbury Television. Host Joe Manfredi will be streaming the concerts live on www.ustream.tv; keyword: OWWRNY. Free parking for Downtown Sounds is available at the nearby municipal garage.
