The Glen Cove Menorah was kindled Sunday evening, marking the beginning of the Chanukah festival. The lighting was well attended & with much celebration. Both children and adults had a great time decorating Chanukah arts & crafts and dancing to the tunes of lively Chanukah songs. The children kept bouncing in the gigantic "Dreidle Inflatable" - bounce House and 2 Lucky children walked away with special prizes they won in the raffle. Rabbi Heber encouraged all to take a lesson from Chanukah, "Despite all the darkness that surrounds us especially with the recent horrific killings in California, Paris, Israel and many other places, Light will us triumph". Mayor Spinelli remarked that the Chanukah celebration as well as the other celebrations in the season is, "Glen Cove's strength, celebrating diversity". Mayor Spinelli & Assemblyman Chuck Lavine with Chabad Rabbi Mendy Heber went up on the bucket truck to light the Menorah to the cheer of all present.
