SUN SETS ON 2014 SEA CLIFF SUMMER MUSIC SERIES
Perhaps this Summer's Swan Song, both the Sea Cliff Civic Association's Sunset Serenade Concert Series and the Sea Cliff Beach Summer Sounds Friday Night Music presented their season finales this past week. John Brady and Brian Schnurman, joined by the Brady Brothers for a few numbers, performed an assortment of folk and light rock at Memorial Park in Sea Cliff Thursday evening; and on Friday, the tuneful teenage twosome made a second appearance opening for, and performing a few songs with, headliner and North Shore Middle School music teacher Bryce Larsen at Sea Cliff Beach on Friday night.
Neither concert series could have occurred without the efforts of many volunteers from the community, some of whom who have been doing this for the past several years. Sunset Serenade was initiated 14 years ago by Patrice Kaider, who continues to be the mainstay of the summertime weekly event and Susan Giordano has been organizing the Friday night Beach concert series since 2006. Both Sunset Serenade and Sea Cliff Beach Summer Sounds also received a helping hand from the spectacular summer weather this year as not a single concert was cancelled or postponed. Although the Thursday and Friday concerts have ended for this year, there are still a number of upcoming scheduled performances at the Sea Cliff Beach Performance Pavilion in September. On Saturday, September 6, the Sea Cliff Fire Department will be sponsoring its annual Music on the Harbor Fundraiser featuring Kris Rice and Company and Chicken Head; Antigone Rising will perform on Saturday, September 13 beginning at 6pm; and later in the month, the Sea Cliff Silly Shakespeare Company will perform MacNoooo. |
