HOLLYWOOD COWBOY DAY AT GC SENIOR CENTER FEATURES WESTERN FILM STAR WILL HUTCHINS
Saddle up, pardners of all ages, and ride on down! On Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 1 to 3 pm, the public is invited to the Glen Cove Adult Day Program at the Glen Cove Senior Center, lower level, 130 Glen Stree in Glen Cove, to attend an afternoon of Wild West nostalgia with famed TV cowboy and movie star Will Hutchins, packed with entertainment suprprises and serving light refreshments. There is no charge; guests are encouraged to "dress the part" - wear your favorite old dungarees, bandanas and cowboy hat!
To help celebrate our 30th Anniversary serving Nassau county's frailer senior propulation and their caregivers, the Glen Cove Adult Day Program will be presenting Will Hutchins, star of TV's beloved "Sugarfoot" TV series, who will be guiding us through a screening of one of his westerns and treating the audience to marvelous "insider" anecdotes of Hollywood, past and present. He will also welcome audience questions afterward. With his down-home charm and side-splitting sense of humor, Will is both a local hero and a national treature. Over the course of his illustrious career, he has co-starred with Elvis Presley, Jack Nicholson, Betsy Palmer, as well as nine other Oscar-winning movie stars, and he has rubbed elbows with most of the major stars of his era. in addition to his starring roles in Westerns, he is an accomplished actor who has appeared on TV series, feature films and live theater in productions too numerous to list here. As an additional "cowboy" treat, there will also be a guest musical performance by singer/songwriter Jeff Sorg of Port Washington. The rare film footage will be generaously provide from the historical film archive of Rick Smith, owner and proprietor of the Piano Exchange in Glen Cove. The Glen Cove Adult Day Program is partially funded by Nassau Colunty and the City of Glen Cove. This social setting provides fully-scheduled days of recreation and soicalization for frail elderly seniors who would otherwise be alone and isloated at home. The program also offers door-to-door bus transportation, hot nutritionus meals, daily exercise, and highly creative recreational programming, specially tailored to seniors with special needs.
