SEA CLIFF SILLY SHAKESPEARE COMPANY TAKES IT LATEST PRODUCTION MACNOOOO! ON THE ROAD
May 24, 2014 -- Due to the overwhelming demand of other communities to imitate the arts culture of Sea Cliff, and believing that their live performances which celebrate beer drinking culture, encourage ridiculous acts of audience participation and require the use of a wheelbarrow when actors die on the stage is what best represents this community’s dedication to all things artistic, the Sea Cliff Silly Shakespeare Company took the show on the road earlier this month.
On May 10, 2014, the troupe performed at the Amsterdam in Port Washington where members of that community were invited to be part of the show and immediately learned that in the performance of a death scene, no gag is too stupid. One show goer stated afterwards, “I haven’t laughed for an hour straight in 10 years.” The next weekend, the Players were invited by Haworth New Jersey’s Cultural Arts Committee to perform MacNoooo! for their sleepy community and after the audience joined the cast by dancing in the aisles, they awoke and were properly exposed to the Sea Cliff arts life style. Some there are now undertaking to sell their homes in Haworth and join the troupe here on Long Island. Writer, actor, and director Elizabeth Sehring says that despite the fact that there is no place like Paddy O’Thello’s pub in Sea Cliff, the troupe will be on the road again next year. Sea Cliff Silly Shakespeare Company was paid for the performances and despite the troupe’s Barmaids insisting that the monies be placed in the beer till, the funds will be used to purchase stage curtains and microphones, so that our own community can see and hear the actors. Save the Date: The local production of MacNoooo! this year will be on Saturday, September 20th at 6pm (rain date Sunday the 21st ) at the Sea Cliff Art’s Pavilion. A FREE SHOW. The local actors who went on the road were Brent Alba, Jeff Blinkoff, Ann DiPietro, Dan DiPietro, Phil Essex, Roberta Fox, Anthony Genovesi, Carolyn Mazzu Genovesi, Lesley Pryde Haley, Peter Luftig, Jane Ringrose Helling, Elizabeth Sehring and Phil Schiff.
