A PERFECT SATURDAY FOR A SENIOR PICNIC
June 15, 2015 --The weather picnic perfect, more than sixty seniors from Sea Cliff, Glen Head and Glenwood Landing turned out for the Sea Cliff Senior Action Committee's Annual Picnic that was held this past Saturday afternoon at the Sea Cliff Methodist church. The event was a team effort with the Senior Action Committee organizing the picnic, setting up, and serving food, and North Shore Kiwanis members working the grills, while keyboardist John LaRosa, accompanied by John Canning crooning, provided the musical entertainment. Sea Cliff DPW employees Gary and John G. set up the picnic tables on the Methodist Church lawn.
The Senior Action Committee is appointed by the Sea Cliff Village Board to provide services for Sea Cliff seniors. Members supervise the bus transportation for Wednesday grocery shopping at Stop n Shop in Glen Cove and to the Mutual Concern’s senior lunch program each Tuesday and Friday at St. Luke’s Church in Sea Cliff. Members also arrange for transportation to and from local medical appointments, friendly visits to Sea Cliff seniors unable to leave their homes, as well as handyman and shopping services. Committee members are: Jean Stratford, Chair, Joyce Kaufmann, Alice O’Donnell, Claudia Moyne, Debbie Pierce, Gen Woods, Maureen Maddock, and Ann Castagliola.
