SEA CLIFF'S SILLY SHAKESPEARE SOARS BY THE SEASIDE
Sea Cliff Beach was the site this past weekend of The Silly Shakespeare Company of Sea Cliff”s frolicking interpretation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest- a loose combination of the Bard’s original play, TV’s The Love Boat and the movie Castaway. Titled “The Tem-Pissed” it cleverly included ukulele duets, a rousing rendition of “ Day-0 Day-0” , a magnificent Hawaiian hula dance piece, ending with an over-the-top full cast Conga line. Luckily, there was a running commentary by Elizabeth Sehring as Lucy Leper and Carolyn Mazzu Genovesi as Bar Maid #1 that kept the audience informed as to what was going on- no easy task with this dizzily hilarious take on an already complicated story line. An enthusiastic audience of over 300 attended the performance which was sponsored by the Sea Cliff Civic Association.
The cast included Brent Albala, Karin Barnaby, Jeff Blinkoff, Russell Charno, Ann DiPietro, Dan DiPietro, Jessica Donovan, Phil Essex, Roberta Fox, Carolyn Mazzu Genovesi, Kevin McDonagh, Lesley Pryde Haley, Peter Luftig, Elizabeth Sehring, Adira Schiff, Phil Schiff and Rob Wilgoos. Costumes by Christine Abbenda and Julia Lanotte. Choreography by Tracey Greenfield.
