TRE SORELLE WINS VILLAGE WINE MERCHANT'S SEA CLIFF PIZZERIA TASTE-OFF
November 22, 2015 -- Wine and pizza enthusiasts packed the Village Wine Merchant on Sea Cliff Avenue on Tuesday November 17 for the first ever Sea Cliff Pizza Taste-off. With bragging rights on the line, local pizzeria's Il Villagio, Taormina, Tre Sorelle, and Villa Meci each bravely entered their Grandma's style and plain Neopolitian pies into the contest in which nearly five dozen votes were cast. The Wine Merchant's Mike Amendolia, introduced guests to three fine reds that pair perfectly with pizza, and after 16 pies in total had been consumed, and the votes tallied by Wine Merchant owner Frank Scavone and de facto village emcee John Canning, the winner was finally announced. While all four had strong support, it was Tre Sorelle, the pizzeria in the shopping center at the corner of Downing and Glen Cove Avenues, that took first prize earning 26 votes. (Northwordnews.com)
