DOZENS LEND A HAND DURING ANNUAL SEA CLIFF BEACH SPRING CLEANINGMay 12, 2015 -- Signaling that summer is just around the corner, about four dozen residents, local officials, and DPW workers spent much of Saturday morning combing Sea Cliff Beach for litter and flotsam that had collected on the sands over the past several months. The clean up was organized by the newly formed Sea Cliff Beach Events Coordinating Committee, chaired by Justin and Jenna DiPietro who were appointed to their posts by the Sea Cliff Village Board last month.
Operating Bobcats DPW workers levelled and redistributed sand, while volunteers of all ages, among them Sea Cliff Boy Scout Troop 43, led by Richard Greene, filled dozens of contractor bags with refuse. The volunteers were kept strong with generous contributions of food and beverages from Rob Byrne, who operates the Beach Cafe during the summer months and the Port Cafe in Port Washington throughout the year. The Beach will officially open Memorial Day weekend. |
