ROUSING RUSSIANS IN THE HOUSE
Three virtuoso players of The Omega Ensemble NYC chamber music organization will debut in a Double Concert at Cedarmere onSunday May 15.
These gifted artists will perform in the Great Room of William Cullen Bryant’s famous home, by invitation of The Friends of Cedarmere, who are hosting the concerts and offering a fantastic reception in the seldom-seen, newly restored Mill (rain or shine) complete with guided tours of the fabulous Estate property--a glorious opportunity to experience Spring at Cedarmere. The programs consist of works for violin, cello and piano. In the first concert, strains of the Old World and New—from Vienna to Russia, from the Jewish Pale of Settlement to the United States--are represented by the irresistible Fritz Kreisler, impassioned Sergei Rachmaninoff, high-spirited Joseph Achron and Grammy-winning Mark Summer. The second program is devoted entirely to Piotr Tchaikovsky’s spectacular Piano Trio. This work is considered to be PT’s most technically demanding work for piano, and offers a dazzling array of variations and contrasting movements within a Romantic vision of sublime proportions. To capture the work’s full brilliance, Faust Harrison Piano Company, of Huntington, has generously loaned a one-of-a-kind, hand-made Yamaha Artist piano for the occasion. The dynamic performers are violinist Danbi Um, cellist Andrew Janss, and pianist David Fung. Concerts begin promptly at 5 and 7 pm, respectively, with tours and reception beginning at 6 pm, featuring traditional blini pancakes provided by George and Katherine Schidlovsky, of Sea Cliff, in honor of these immortal Russians & assorted musical greats. Ticket prices are $50 per concert, per person; $85 for a two-concert package (at 15 % discount). All tickets include admittance to reception and tours. Concert seating is strictly limited and must be reserved by advance purchase, first come first serve, with a credit card at www.omegaensemble.com/#!cedarmere-may-15th/c1twz or at www.friendsofcedarmere.org; or, by check or money-order (ASAP, as online sales move more quickly, until SOLD-OUT is posted online; please confirm availability on either website above, or call 1-805-807-6323 or 1-800-763-7190 for more information).
