PUB CRAWLING FOR SEA CLIFF BEACHThis past Friday night, the Sea Cliff Beach Committee held its eighth annual Pub Crawl to raise funds for the upkeep and improvement of Sea Cliff Beach. After dropping by the Village Wine Merchant to make a donation, pick up a mug, and of course, taste wine, Crawlers, braving the 20 degree temperatures, ventured off to Gallaghers, the Metropolitan Bistro, Still Partners, the Oak Room Tavern and Musu for drinks, and to il Villagio for a slice of pizza.
Beach Committee member Justin DiPietro declared the event a great success, and "the best yet," in large part because of the volunteerism and community spirit that it generated. "A special thank you to everyone who came out and bought mugs and to all the establishments that participated in the event." he said. "Seeing Alan and Melisa Geller out in the freezing cold at Musu serving warm ginger sake to their customers, the merchants who donated raffle prizes and my fellow volunteers who generously gave up their time to put this event together was a true testament to what this community is all about." Funds raised from past Pub Crawls and other Beach Committee events such as Sea Cliff Palooza have gone towards the construction of the beach performing arts pavilion and the purchase of its sound system, a new sign in the beach parking lot, beach umbrellas and storage rack, and most recently, for the refurbishment, upkeep and weather proofing of the benches along the Boardwalk.
