We are writing to share our enthusiastic support for Sara Jones as member of the Board of Education for the North Shore School District. Sara Jones has children in the Elementary and Middle Schools of our district but her commitment to our district goes far beyond the interests of her own children. She deeply cares about the quality of education for all students and has advocated passionately for them. Whether it be addressing the curriculum, supporting our fantastic teachers, or bringing innovation to our schools, Sara has been instrumental to the Board of Education and to our community.
Sara’s outreach to our community goes beyond her commitment to the Board of Education. Not only is Sara the CEO of her own company, but she donates her time as a co-founder of the Sea Cliff MAKEshop that is entirely volunteer run. The Sea Cliff MAKEshop is a local not for profit organization that offers STEAM learning opportunities to students across our district (STEAM=Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math).
Sara has been clear on her mission to provide opportunities to all students to increase their exposure to hands on science. We have reached hundreds of students with classes on Computer Programming, Robotics & Engineering, Electric Circuits, Elementary Science and more. Because of our success in student enrollment in MAKEshop programs, Sara has been able to positively impact the STEAM offerings at our schools.
Sara is directly working with students in our district by teaching many of the MAKEshop classes at the Sea Cliff Children’s Library each month. Through her direct involvement with our district’s students and parents, Sara is able to help the Board better incorporate STEAM learning into the educational curriculum. Without her support and involvement the MAKEshop would not exist.
Please join us in our emphatic support of Sara Jones as a continued member of our Board of Education and vote on May 17th.
