NORTH SHORE'S MOCK TRIAL TEAM AMONG TOP EIGHT IN NASSAU COUNTY
by Shelly Newman March 25, North Shore Schools, Glen Head - The Nassau County Mock Trial Tournament, the largest in New York State, is a four-month long tournament involving 48 schools. After defeating Manhasset, Herricks, Seaford and Massapequa, North Shore’s Team has progressed to the Quarter-Final round for the first time in approximately 17 years. They will compete along with the top eight schools for a chance to continue on to the County Championships. The winner from each County will travel to Albany for the final round.
Mock Trial requires students to understand and present a court case written by lawyers and judges from across New York State. Teams must work both sides of the problem, acting as either Prosecution or Defense in each round of competition. All trials are held at the Nassau County Supreme Court in Mineola and are ruled on by actual judges. Congratulations to North Shore’s team and good luck!
