NORTH SHORE HIGH SCHOOL "VIKING VIEW" WINS 33 AWARDS
Recently, the Long Island Press' High School Journalism Awards was held at Hofstra University. North Shore High School's newspaper, The Viking View, won an unprecedented 33 awards. 30 awards were for writing and three of the awards were special awards.
Ms. Sara Millman, Teacher Advisor said, “Never before has the Viking View won this many awards at a single competition. The writing this year was outstanding. There were over 2,000 entries in this competition and at least 30 public high schools from both Suffolk and Nassau.”
North Shore High School was up against huge public schools including Half Hollow Hills, Bay Shore, Massapequa, East Islip, Smithtown and Shoreham-Wading River. Ms. Millman added, “We are all just blown away by the results as well as the fact that Junior Zoe Malin won 10 awards.”
