Valedictorian, Adriana N. Rubertone
Adriana Rubertone took the podium at the 2014 North Shore High School Commencement Ceremony while her peers, teachers, family and friends watched with joy and admiration. She began her speech by reminding her peers to “Remember the people at North Shore High School and the great teachers that have inspired you and made you who you are right now.” She continued by saying, “We were blank slates coming into this school in 9th grade. Now, thanks to the support of the school, we’ve developed identities as a foundation for who we can become in the future…” She concluded by saying, “No matter, what our future holds, there will be opportunities for you to make a difference and ‘be the change you want to see in the world.’ Congratulations North Shore Class of 2014; let’s go forward with confidence and make our community proud.”
It is clear from reviewing Adriana Rubertone’s extensive list of awards and honors that she has approached every challenge of her high school career with hard work, passion and dedication. This is reflected in her numerous accomplishments including: National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, recipient of the Dr. Bomberick Award for Excellence in Science and Department Awards in Mathematics, Band, and World Languages. Adriana was President of the Interact Club, Co-President/ Board of Education Representative Student Government (SGO), a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. She also received the Girl Scout Gold Award. Additionally, Adriana was the Initiator/President of a Gender Equality Club and a researcher at a DNA Nanotechnology Lab at New York University.

Everyone at the North Shore Schools is sincerely proud of her many accomplishments and wishes Adriana the very best of luck now and in the future!
Salutatorian, Michael Ethan Rovner
Over his past four years at North Shore High School, Michael Rovner has truly excelled. Among his long list of honors, Michael received the following: North Shore Kiwanis James T. Hebron Memorial Scholarship Award, Dr. Leslie Wanek-Sgaglione Memorial Scholarship, Nassau Educators Federated Credit Union Making A Difference High School Scholarship, The Long Island Blood Scholarship, and was a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student. During the 2014 North Shore High School Commencement Ceremony, Michael said,
“Trying something new comes with a risk of failure, humiliation, or defeat. However, do not shy away from these challenges. It is often the riskiest gambles that pay off the most, and it is from our greatest mistakes that we learn the most….Someone once told me, you should learn to be comfortable, being uncomfortable. When you are able to do this, you know there is nothing you can’t accomplish…” He continued by saying, “I believe that now more than ever, the world is in need of people who strive to make the world a better place through their everyday actions.”
Michael will be attending Columbia University in September 2014 and looks forward to studying political science. Lots of luck to both Adriana Rubertone and Michael Rovner. We at the North Shore Schools are all so very proud of both students and congratulate them for their dedication, passion, courage, and talent. This is only the beginning and we celebrate you and the entire North Shore High School Class of 2014.
