NORTH SHORE ELEMENTARY WONDER LEAGUE ROBOTICS COMPETITION

The team sport for future innovators
K-5 students at all three North Shore elementary schools participated in the Wonder League Robotics Competition under the direction of Technology teacher, Ms. Mary Hill. Overall, 10 North Shore teams enrolled in the competition to complete five missions. Three teams may go on to compete further in the worldwide competition!  
Under the guidance of Ms. Hill, the North Shore students utilized colorful robots called Dash & Dot. Dash & Dot are characters that ignite curiosity and confidence while providing fun ways of learning the essential skills of collaboration, communication, and digital literacy
The Wonder League is a worldwide community of clubs that inspire young children to learn robotics and coding to better become the innovators and creators of tomorrow. Every year, clubs around the world participate in the Wonder League Robotics Competition. Involvement in this competition enables K-5 children design solutions to real-world science and technology challenges. It further helps them develop problem-solving strategies, creativity skills, learn coding, collaborate with peers, and build meaningful relationships
Over 7,000 elementary schools are using Dash & Dot to bring coding to life in the classroom. Using their iPads or hand-held devices, the North Shore students worked in teams to send various commands to their robots to enable them to move, rotate, light up, and navigate five missions initiated by the Wonder League Robotics Competition. If accomplished, the teams move on to the next round of the competition.
