To the editor,
Supervisor Saladino failed to submit annual fiscal stress test documents to the NYS Comptroller’s Office last week.
The Town of Oyster Bay is the only Long Island municipality that failed to submit these financial disclosures this year.
The Town of Oyster Bay has failed to disclose information about its finances to the Comptroller’s Office for four years . . . this time, claiming problems with a computer program.
Is there something about our TOB finances that Supervisor Saladino and TOB council members don’t want the Comptroller’s Office and Oyster Bay residents to know? Under the law, intentionally withholding information is equivalent to lying by omission. Oyster Bay’s Town administrators—like the Trump administration in Washington—would have us believe this is OK. It is not OK!
We must demand transparency, honesty and fiscal responsibility of our elected officials.
I, for one, will not support any administration that refuses to disclose its finances to N.Y. State auditors.
I will be supporting Marc Herman for Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor, and Bob Freier, Eva Pearson and James Versocki
for TOB Council.
Now is the time to restore transparency, responsibility and decency to government.
Sincerely,
Karin Barnaby

Sea Cliff Arts Council presents Kim Loewe at Daniel Gale/ Sotheby’s in Sea Cliff at 262 Sea Cliff Avenue.
Join us for the art opening this Sunday, Oct 16th from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Meet the artist and check out her colorful work. Refreshments will be served.
Kim Loewe (b.1973) is a cross-disciplinary artist who's work ranges from painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Loewe investigates inspiration from oceanside haunts, and the specific objects you may find there, elements of beauty that perhaps were unintended. They are worked into this second life, this new portrayal. These images operate in the abyss of where water ends and the universe begins, and issues symbols with which it can represent or protect that duality. She received her MFA from Columbia University, School of the Arts, New York and her BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and The University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Loewe is currently a Visiting Artist at Long Island University- C.W. Post Campus, NY in the Department of Art. For additional information, please contact: [email protected] or visit: kloewe.com

SEA CLIFF ARTS COUNCIL PRESENTS KIM LOWE AT DANIEL GALE OPENING SUNDAY OCTOBER 16
Received from Carol Poll & Peggy Brucia, Co-Presidents of the Friends of Sea Cliff Library on October 13, 2017
Thank you Sea Cliff for donating and shopping at Mike Lennon’s ”Offbeat Artifacts Sale” a fundraiser for Friends of Sea Cliff Library. The sale was held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 and was a great success. The sale brought in $1309. for the library The money will go towards additional resources for the Adult and Children’s libraries.
Mike was helped by many including his usual “angels” Robbie Nuttall, Jim Campbell, Mimi Leipzig, Jeanne Millspaugh, Roz Poliseno, Carol Poll and Maria Stieglitz. Suzanne Cohen stopped by with her two beautiful children to also pitch in and help. A group of kindly and strong Sea Cliff guys carried and assembled the big items at the sale. The money will go towards additional resources for the Adult and Children’s libraries.
Also to be congratulated for their hard work is Pooja K. Vira for arranging for the seven students who helped carry items out. Seventh graders from the North Shore Middle School included Andrew Fabiillii, Michael Grenelli, Jack Kaufman, Ryan Freund, and eighth grader Chrystal Coleman. High Schoolers Andrew McLellan and Michael Gimando also were there helping out. The students were wonderful. Kudos to Julia Salat the Key Coordinator for North Shore schools who disseminated information to the North Shore Schools students.
Plus, applause for Joanna Greenspon who dropped off things for the sale and Sea Cliff Deputy Mayor, Kevin McGilloway who bought volunteers coffee and cake. Yeh!
But most of all we have to thank Mike Lennon for rounding up all the wonderful quirky artifacts and bringing them to the village green and working hard to sell them and deliver them. It is an enormous job and Mike does it four times a year to make sure the Sea Cliff Library thrives. The next Offbeat Artifacts Sale will be Saturday Dec. 9 with snow date on Sunday December 10, 2017.
Watch for the Friends of the Sea Cliff Library mailing to support the library, come to our monthly meetings, visit our website www.friendsoftheseaclifflibrary.com, and “like” our Facebook page @FriendsofSeaCliffLibrary.

The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 23-27 as School Board Recognition Week. This is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. The North Shore School District is joining all public school districts across the state to celebrate and honor its board members for their commitment to our community and its children.
It takes strong schools to build a strong community and with their commitment to public education, School Board members take on one of the most important citizen responsibilities: overseeing the education of the community’s youth while giving the community a voice in educational decision making. Serving on a local school board is no easy task, particularly in today’s climate of rapid change and financial uncertainties. They make the tough decisions every month and spend many hours studying education issues and regulations in order to provide the kind of accountability their citizens expect, on a volunteer basis without a stipend.
They help raise student achievement by:
Antoinette Labbate, President
Sara Jones, Vice President
Herman Berliner
Joanna Commander
Richard Galati
Dave Ludmar
Marianne M. Russo
Our children and community benefit every day from the hard work and long hours contributed by our trustees. We invite you to take a moment to tell school board members “Thank you, for all you do.” Please join the North Shore Coordinating Council of Parent Organizations in honoring our Board of Education trustees on Thursday, October 26th in the High School Library (450 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head) at 7:30 pm. We will have a brief ceremony and feature a musical performance by the North Shore Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Jason Domingo. Light refreshments baked with gratitude from our Middle School and High School students will be served and a special gift will be presented by our Elementary School students.
With Appreciation,
The North Shore Coordinating Council of Parent Organizations
