Sea Cliff Arts Council presents it’s latest exhibit by Sea Cliff artist JoAnne Gray. JoAnne’s work can be seen during library hours at The Sea Cliff Village library from September thru the end of October. Opening for this show is on Sunday, September 18th, from 3-5pm.
Joanne begins most of her collages and assemblages with an original print, which she creates from a printing plate on a small press in her Sea Cliff studio. Often on hand-made paper, her prints have limited runs. She builds on top of the prints, bit-by-bit, from paper and found objects. Some of these works contain hand-painting and sketching. Ms. Gray is attracted to tone and texture. By tearing, cutting and pasting colors and patterns she creates work which often depicts natural elements. Also included in this show are commissioned portraits. “Collage offers me the opportunity to easily move things around. The materials are already given, they are already there waiting to be arranged.” she said. “Each piece is an experiment. For me, collage is another mode of painting.” To learn more about Sea Cliff Arts Council or to become a member, e-mail [email protected]. |
