THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY: A MELANGE OF MUSICAL LANDSCAPES
Concert by Gemini Journey
Diane Block, violin and Terry Batts, cello
Saturday, December 19 at 3 p.m.
In a concert at Nassau County Museum of Art on Saturday, December 19 at 3 p.m., Gemini Journey—Diane Block on violin and Terry Batts on cello—explore music of the early 20th century, a creatively varied and fertile period that was also the time of the Golden Age of Illustration and the long career of Maxfield Parrish, whose works are presently on view at the Museum. The Early 20th Century: A Mélange of Musical Landscapes demonstrates how the excesses of the late Romantic period gave way to leaner, radical new movements including modernism, nationalism, neoclassicism and jazz. Gemini Journey has frequently performed at Manhattan and Long Island venues and has delighted audiences in their previous appearances at the Museum.
